1000 apologies

I always liked the concept of 1000 apologies and right now it seems appropriate. This week has been chaotic and I haven´t managed to blog at all. After a period of negotiation we signed a rental contract with the club last week and are now renting the shop site they have underneath the club offices. We opened Monday  after two days sorting out the shop and on Sunday a visit to Gran Canaria to go to Primark. ( For home not for work).We are open Monday to Friday from 10.00 to 13.30 and 16.00 to 20.00, Saturday we are open all day until the weekend of the 6th and after that from 10.00 to 14.00.

I had picked last weekend to journey across the water as it was clear that the game in Oviedo wouldn't be televised, thinking it would be more or less quiet. You know what they say about the best laid plans!!!

The team had to lose a game at some point  and better now away against Oviedo who were destined to be strong even if they had a bad start than later when we have the run up to the end of the season. Listening on the radio they played well and were just unlucky with a great shot at goal. We are still fourth and the game against Marino del Luanco should be three points for us.

The sale of second round season tickets  seems to be going well and fans are coming through the shop looking for blue and white gifts for their loved ones.

The team break for the Holidays after the game and will be back after xmas. There is talk about a trip to Vecindario but I haven't yet seen anything confirmed. There seem to be various names in the pot for the  forward who might come and I will update the facebook page with the news articles as I read them.

Journey Day

The team set off today on their journey to Huesca. The trip started with a bus journey to the airport, a plane to Madrid, the train to Huesca and a bus to the hotel. There were gripes on some of the forums that the players were not training enough this week but I personally can't see how anyone could have expected them to train today.

Players who were called to make the trip were; Luis García, Marc Bertrán, Bellvís, Hidalgo, Nino, Ricardo, Omar, Natalio, Beranger, Sergio Aragoneses, David Prieto, Juanlu Hens, Melli, Luna, Julio Álvarez, Míkel Alonso, Iriome, Dani Mederos y Josmar Zambrano. Although Sergio Aragoneses has not trained in full this week it is hoped he will be fit to play tomorrow afternoon. 

When interviewed before the trip Mikel Alonso stated that, "it is clear that tomorrows game is very important. We need to show intensity and play as well as we are able. Nobody likes to be in the lower end of the table". He went on to explain that he was "here for the team and the trainer, at his orders. It is good that there is a choice of players to play". When asked about himself he stated "I am not happy about the events this season neither indivdually or for the team because of the position we are in. Here we are a team and we are all unhappy. Lets see if we can start to gain the points we need to move up the table" he finished.

How to bring over how I feel. The first real win in 6 months. A goal at our end to add to our happiness. Often the goals come in the second half  and CD Tenerife by choice plays to the Popular end. For what ever reason yesterday that wasn't to be and this was lovely for the fans from the Herradura end. The players went wild and celebrated the goal. Careful playing followed for the last 10 minutes and a win was finally ours.

INCIDENTS

Tenth round of the Liga Adelante, in the second division. Played in the Heliodoro Rodríguez López stadium in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, with the grass in good condition. At the game were, 15.707 spectators, on a warm afternoon with light breeze.

Strange times

In times of crisis it is easy to be confused. We sat on the 28th of August in front of our televisions excited to see Tenerife start against Girona. We expected to win, we were candidates for the highest positions in the twenty available. We could compete with the best and expected to have to fight Betis. And here we are 20 days later having taken part in some of the worst history the club has ever seen. The fans are blown away by the events. There has been only deception disgust and discredit. When a team falls from great heights like this it is normal to doubt everything and everybody. In consequence it is hard to know what are the good points. Did Arconada destroy a great team or once we have a new trainer will new problems surface? This is the question.
The answer will only be proved with the passing of time. Arconada needs to go, this is evident, perhaps the only thing everyone is agreed on. With his sacking, late -because the terrible scenes in the stadium on Saturday could have been missed and three points saved-, opens the only hope for a way forward. The club needs to find the right coach, a man who will give the players values, who helps the players play to the best of their abilities and helps them hide their difficulties (the absence of a defensive midfielder has been shown), and who can lead the squad into being a functioning group. It needs to be done. And if then we don't go up we can talk......
Certainly Arconada, part failure, part victim of "post" Oltraism, shouldn't have trained today. This was just another unnecessary cruelty.

Thoughts for a new year

There has been a lot of talk on various forums including the Armada Sur one about how badly the team is playing and if they continue to play like this they will go down. This is certainly possible. For those of us who have been going to support CDT this year is going to be fabulous what ever the final position. Don't get me wrong I would love the team to say up and will support them to the end however they play. I hated the way they whistled at Manolo in November. However they will still be my team and I will still be going to see them play even if next year it was in the second division as we have for years.
The club had serious financial problems 3 years ago and when Miguel Concepción stood for president he made promises. Promises he has kept. He promised we would consolidate, we did. He promised that in 3 years we would go up to the first division, we have. And when we went up this year he has promised we will stay up. Anyone with knowledge about the club knows we still have large financial debts, less that thre years ago but still debts. This means we have difficulties when it comes to buying players. Nino came on loan and only after he proved he could make it with us did the club buy him.
The new players this year Roman is on loan as Espanol has too many non-Europeans, Dinei came from an major injury and Bellvis came up from Elche in the second division. Alfaro coming back on loan was regarded as a miracle. Other than this the team renewed what they had and got on with it. And they have done well until now. Away games have always been a struggle. 3 seasons ago we went nearly the whole year without an away point. If our home ground wasn't such a fortress we would have been in segunda B.
We can make this if we all pull together but the team needs to feel we support them. Hopefully Santigo Llorente will manage to buy or find two or three players to support the team. But most of all we need to support the players and be there at every game cheering them on. See you Sunday.
