The game we have all been waiting for

I think for many fans although they didn't expect Segunda B to be a wlk in the park they did expect to win a few games without suffering. The first few games in the season seemed to reinforce this and then the rest of the season arrived.
I sat after the game yesterday quietly just appreciating how great the feeling was to have won without suffering without being worried until the last minute what might happen. I have to say it is a great moment for the team to have recovered and I think we will make the playoffs. Theoretically we need one more win to be sure that we are ok. Both would probably move us up the table with a small chance we were second.
Second is an advantage as it gives you in theory a less difficult team and the second leg at home. This second  is the factor which would really help us, although I am sure many will travel to see the games where ever we are drawn.
Yesterdays game itself was great for Perona who scored a hat trick with the third being a penalty. The second was a really great goal and all three can be seen below.

Tenerife draw away again and Lugo's coach has sour grapes

Slowly and surely went the Turtle and the Hare ran too fast. Lets see if this is hopw the race to the end of two B works out for Tenerife. A draw away in Lugo was a good result marred only by Castilla's win against Athletico B.
The team started well yesterday and the promise which seems to hold was showing. Kitoko was in central defense which is not his natural position but he worked hard and was well paired with Ayoze. The team fought hard and looked competitive, showing that they are on the right path. Perona nearly scored after a play by Chechu and Zazo. Then Lugo scored and they seemed to grow and had several good chances but the blue and white players fought back finalising just before half time in a play by Victor Bravo with a pass to Perona which he put into the goal.
In the second half Lugo came out strong and controlled the ball but CD Tenerife aslo had chances including one from Kiko Raton after he came on the field. The island team were on a level with the team which up to last round had been leaders.
The game could have been a play off match and showed that CD Tenerife is on the right track.

Played in the Anxo Carro stadium. The ground was in average condition, on a cold damp morning with 2,500 spectators of which approx 150 were from CD Tenerife.

 Calderon commented that he was pleased with the way the game had been played. The Lugo coach in a fit of sour grapes could only comment that one team went out to play and the other to stop the game. Perhaps no one had told him all is fair in love and war and certainly for the blue and white team this and every game is a battle to go back to professional football.

The next match is at home against Atl Madrid B on Sunday at 12.00

A tale of two halves

If there was ever a game of two halves it was yesterdays game. The first half  was great the team were together, played well and moved forward with two outstanding goals. The second especially by Perona was cool headed, he thought carefully before shooting and knocked the ball in goal.
The second half was different, the players came out and were either defending, relaxed or nervous depending on the point of view. Celta B then scored and this made everything worse.

The players are happy with the points that the club has now and 28 points after 14 games is in line for a play off position.

CD Toledo v CD Tenerife 0-0

I love going to away games. The travel, being with other fans, arriving at the stadium and being there fan from home to support your team. Toledo was no different to other days. We travelled Saturday to Madrid and on Sunday morning took the train up to Toldeo. We were luck to meet Pedro Cordero in the way and he told us how he actually played a year there in the city and was looking forward to his brief visit.
We met up with other fans and went off for a drink. One of us had a hangover and needed croquetas for breakfast which was interesting. The rest of us had a drink and then headed up to the stadium.




The aways fans are at the end of the uncovered side, which was fine. Banners were laid out. and soon the match started. They played well in the first half with the team looking better than I have seen them this season.
We were robbed of a penalty through a hand ball in the second minute but the team just got on with playing. I loved seeing Ayoze play again. It is always special when we see local players in the team. Ruben Rosquete and German also came on but they didn't have that much time to make a difference.

There were about 50 CD Tenerife fans in the stands with banners from the fan clubs Peña Armada Sur & Peña Perona.

Perona: "The team played well and we were unlucky not to score. The group is coming together. It isn't easy to play against a rival such as Toledo who knows how to defend. We are showing how well we can play we were just unlucky not to score. As to the hand ball at the start of the game, well the referee didn't whislte it and thats that".
Sergio Rodriguez: " I have pulled something. I hope it isn't bad. It could be because I haven't played much up to now. The game was hard and that sometimes makes a difference. Still I am happy how the game worked out. We need to go on working hard and it is a pity we couldn't score a goal and make a diference to the result".
Zazo: "I am happy with the result, they were a complicated rival and we gave everything. We will make this point count on Sunday against Celta B. We still need something more and we need to make the most of our chances. The game was very similar to the one in La Roda and San Sebastian de los Reyes. We had good chances to the end of the match but it wasn't to be".
 Ayoze: "We need to make the most of this point by winning this Sunday. Adding to our total is always important. Away from home it is almost impossible that a referee will call a penalty but we missed some good chances . We need to keep working. I personally plan to work hard and make things difficult for the coach so he has to pick me to play".

Its Tuesday but we are still winning at home

Whether the team played badly or not three points are all that really count. How many games in La Liga did we play well and lose. Leganes will surely not stay at the bottom of the table. They looked good and fought hard although they might just need help in defence as Perona's goal was due to a horrible mistake there.

Win against Rayo Vallecano B

They say another day another dollar but here it is another game another win, for home games at least. Rayo B are probably the best team we have seen here in Tenerife this season. They fought hard but never really looked like they were going to score. I felt sorry for Luna as on the pitch it really didn't look like a penalty but having seen the replay I can't see how we can fight this with the federation. So he won't be playing next weekend. We are away to San Sebastian de los Reyes, they are a local team on the outskirts of Madrid. I wish I could make it but as we are going to Toledo I really can't justify going. There will be a good crowd as the university students are close enough to reach there and they don't need to walk miles when they reach the other end as they did for the RM Castilla game. There were just over 9,00 people in the stadium but even so there was a good atmosphere with the two main fan group singing to each other. The Frente Blanquiazul had a great display for the Canarian flag day with small papers which were the right colours across their area so this formed the flag.

First away win

A second Monday in a row with my team at the top of the table.What more can any fan ask for. Game by game the team plan to work hard and achieve all our hopes. In a ground that CD Tenerife haven't lost a game, for 8 years, the players went out with the intention to fight hard and win.

And so it was, Richi Kitoko with his first game this season for the blue and whites scored after 8 minutes from an excelent pass by Ferran Tacon. Ferran had to wait until the second half to score himself. Add to the mix a goal from Perona with a shot at the far post and CD tenerife were leaders. this is too early in the season to matter but just for a moment they were there. Only in the closing minutes of the gane when the Canarians were tired did Sporting B look better. They fought back with a goal from Guerrero to bring the final score to 1-3.

All the players interviewed were happy but still cautious. Cristobal talked about how winning gave you the energy to go on to the next game. Perona said, "it was easier than we expected, we can score and we played well". David Medina stated, "We need to be careful. We are on the right path but still we should play from game to game". Jesus was not only pleased to have started for the team but also, "sure the more important thing was to win". Marcos Rodriguez, who seems to have the mid-field under control talked about the cup game on Wednesday pointing out, "The Cup is as important as the league".

Coach Calderon was also interviewed after the game. The trainer from Andalucia comented on the fact it hadn't been an easy game, "We worked hard and the players finished very tired. They are hungry to win but this is a long race and we need to remain calm.It helped us that we played in El Molinon but it helped Sporting B as well. Today we are going to celebrate this victory but tomorrow we need to concentrate on the cup".

The cup game is against Cerceda on Wednesday in Galicia at 19.30 Tenerife time.

3-0 win against Vecindario

This was the game every fan wants to start the season. A 3-0 clear win, with goals from three different players. After the trials of last year this was a fresh start. The sun shone, the team had managed to organise an afternoon game and as the players came out onto the field there was a feeling that something special was going to happen.
In the first half Vecindario defended well, not letting Tenerife reach the goal. But after the break the black and green team seemed to relax and two goals in six minutes were the result. Victor Bravo was the first goal scorer with a pass from Perona. The ex Oviedo player then shot the second goal giving the team a bread advantage. The third goal came 30 minutes later with a pass by Ferran Tacon to Nico who has not long been substituted onto the field.. The players celebrated each goal together and seemed content as a group. Vecindario played well but they weren't at CD Tenerife's level.
Coach Calderon stated after the game that “although the game was hard the players controlled the ball”, he rated the game as good but more than that he commented he was pleased how the squad were with each other.
The players interviewed after the game were Victor Bravo and Abel. Victor was please the crown had enjoyed the game and hoped that he “scored more goals”. Abel who played fro the fist time in the Heliodoro said “This was a good result for a game that is like a derby”.
The team is training today Monday, and is off tomorrow. CD Tenerife are third in the table with La Roda and Lugo ahead of them on goal difference.
