Jonay Hernandez is excited to be returning to Tenerife

Jonay Hernández is returning to CD Tenerife. Before this he played in the youth squads and now he will be part of the first team squad. At 32 years old, the Tenerife defender who is Venezuelan by birth admitted that, “it is a privilege to play for my home team”.
The second signing for CD Tenerife is now reality. Jonay Hernández, who is known in the football world as Meji, is now committed to the blue and white team. The defender is excited to be returning and looking forward to the new season with the hope to help the team reach their objectives.
 
In declarations made on the club website, Jonay Hernández assured that, “it is a privilege to play for the home team”. The new CDT defender explained that “since I knew about their interest, I didn't want to listen to any other offer”
 
Jonay Hernández knows that his experience is important for the club. Before his return to CD Tenerife, the defender has played for Real Madrid B, Dundee (Scotland), Córdoba, Ciudad de Murcia, Zamora, Racing de Ferrol, Pontevedra, Melilla & Leganés. “Amongst other things I bring experience to the group as I have played in many teams” he affirmed.
 
The new blue and white player considered that “ I am really pleased to be part of the team”, He continued, “We know it will not be easy”, he underlined “and we will need to fight hard but I hope to be able to add my little grain of sand”, finished Jonay Hernández.

Training started.

The team is training at the CIAT de Tíncer ground today.

In interviews yesterday Aitor Núñez stated that he didn't hesitate to sign for CD Tenerife as it is a historic club and that he was proud and happy for the chance to play in the first division.

Hector Sanchez said that he was pleased to be fit to be able to play for the team and that their abject was to stay in the first division.

Santiago Llorente when interviewed responded that the club was working as hard as possible to give the team the best chances this year. Of the players he talked that they were tanned, their weight seemed good ( ever a worry with holidays) and that they seemed happy and eager to train.
When asked about future signings he hoped that we will hear about Eziquel Luna within the next 72 hours and then explained that although the club would like to have the new players as early as possible the market this year was very difficult and nothing seemed to be moving. His dream is to find the best players as soon as possible.

Players who are staying

In the last 24 hours there have been 2 great announcements.
Firstly yesterday afternoon it was stated that Ricardo one of our own from Puerto de la Cruz, will be signing for another 3 years. He started playing in the first team in the season 2006-07 and has this season converted into a key player for coach Jose Luis Oltra. He played in 35 games this season 33 of which he started in scoring one goal.
Goal Keeper Sergio Aragoneses signed this morning to stay in CD for another 3 years. The
Tenerife team came to an agreement with the Galician team where he was playing before and he will play for Tenerife until the summer of 2012. Sergio Aragoneses stated he was very happy to defend the Tenerife colours in the highest league. He is the only player in the history of the club to have gone up with the team twice from the second to the first league. He was a regular player and would have been automatically renewed if he had not been struck with pancreatic illness for 8 weeks. I am pleased he is staying as he has steady sure hands and shows no fear in his area.

New Season. New changes.

It has been announced this week that the Cabildo (Island Government) will be working on the seating area in The Tribuna Alta stand. There has been a great deal of upset and complaints form season ticket holders in this block. The complaints are more that they have not been informed what is going to happen that the refurbishment itself. Some of the season ticket holders have held their seats for more than 20 years and feel they have a right to know what is going to happen. The Cabildo yesterday stated that they will announce exactly their plan on Thursday

Trainer Jose Luis Oltra upheld his promise to go hang gliding if the team went up to the Primera division. He had actually promised to hang glide over Las Palmas de Gran Canaria but this was probably deemed provocative. His hang gliding exploits were over Puerto de la Cruz and below is a video taken on his flight.



The future of Iriome with be decided in the next few days the club has announced. The possible options seem to be Celta de Vigo and Huesca. Both of these are division 2a teams and will give Iriome a chance to play more.
Juanlu Hens future seems to be with the club as is Gaizka Saizar's. It will be great to see him play more having been off so long last season with injuries. Sergion Aragoneses has stated that he too would like to remain on the island and with CD Tenerife.

New Players and a celebration T-shirt

The Spanish newspaper AS seems sure that we will be signing the Central defender Pepe Mora at the begining of next week. They presume this is not being anounced before as he plays for Castellon, Tenerife plays them on Sunday. Mora actually played under Oltra in Castellon.
Talking about José Luis Oltra is was today 2 years ago that he joined the club. He had just finished 4th with Ciudad de Murcia in Segunda A and in 2 years has taken us to the Primera the first Spanish league.
Santiago Llorente has said he would like to resign Pablo Sicilia, Sergio Aragoneses, Mikel Alonso and Ricardo. There is also talk about Emilio Sanchez a young (23) midfielder who player in Alaves this season. Tenerife have also anounced that they would prefer that Hecotr looked for somewhere else as they will not be counting with him next year.
