The CD Tenerife club president, Miguel Concepción, gave a long interview on Monday evening for the sports programme “fútbol4.com”, which is shown on Canal 4 Tenerife, where he analysed the state of the club after the AGM held last week.
Year view. “Looking back over 2010 can only be negative The club descended from La liga to the second division. Then we created a project to try to go back up to the first division but it didn't work out how we expected. We need to give up the negative things and look at the new year with a positive view. ”. “In the last season we had the chance to conserve our position”. “This season we made a team who were competitive to give the fans hope”. “We are convinced that the new year will mean new results”.
FANS:We are counting on the support of the fans, this year they have excelled themsleves with more than 14.000 season ticket holders, a record for the club in the second division”. “The fans are holding the team together in a spectacular way with averagly 16,000 spectators per game. We are in a delicate situation but the fans are outstanding inspite of the little the team have offered”.
RELEGATION.- “The relegation was hard. The sporting project had failed. Our goal was to stay up so we could consolidate. When we reach this point again we will be able to go forward We want the team to go out and be strong, to give the fans happiness”.
SPORTS DIRECTOR.- “Santiago Llorente was at various times in the club, completeing a great job. He took part in the club going up twice but he was also here for this last relegation. It seemed now we had reached a moment for renewal in the sports directive, to recover and transmit ideas”. “Juanjo Lorenzo is a young man, with experience and trraining. His final years with Osasuna were outstanding. He is strong enough to withstand outside pressures and he understands the needs of the club. He is working really hard but it us too early to have something to show”.
TRAINERS.- “We started the league with a great team. There were decisions to be made as the last technical team didn't give the results we expected”. “We have confidence in the work Juan Carlos Mandía is doing. Everyone expected more. We need to get the team out of there”. “The month of January is very importantto more into a calmer area of the table”. “José Luís Oltra is a man who is very much respected by the club. He left through the main gate but his time here was over”
PLAYERS.- “What a player can achieve is a question of mentality and confidence. They need to go out on the field and run until they have no energy left. Perhaps they have been missing that last effort, that fight, the winning mentality. Now every game is a final”. “I would like to see Nino retire from football playing in CD Tenerife. He is a logo for the club”. “Marc Bertrán is a personal aime for the president I had hoped to extend his contract. I hope he will stay here but we can't stop his contract. I want to see players who are commited to the colours”.
MANAGMENT.- “I have no doubts here for all the work we have done. We have lessened the debts and the the sporting we went up and down.”. “We have in the last 5 years managed things which before were difficult. The club is again respected. The players are paid on time. We have improved finances as well at the same time improved the team”. “The repayments of the debts need to be made efficiently and the main creditor is the Promotora”. “About the parking places we have aquired on behalf of the club I need to say that, as everyone knows, the HRL stadium doesn't have parking and we understood that it was needed. The places aquired will be paid for as rental for ten year and then for 37 years more will be property of the entity CD Tenerife”.
