Hopeful for Sunday against Recreativo de Huelva

Iriome & David Prieto were the players in the press room on Wednesday in the El Mundialito grounds. Both players talked about the next game and how that is much more important than the future for CD Tenerife.
Iriome started, he recognised that “it has been a strange week as we didn't play on Sunday. But on the other hand we have had much more time to work and improve our game”.
For the local player, the forced rest over the weekend shouldn't prove a stopping point for the recovery CD Tenerife have shown in the last few weeks: “The consistency we have shown is the result of hard work. This break should have no effect on our play. The group are improving training session after training session”.
In the purely personal the young man from Icod de los Vinos explained “I have had various games without playing and would really like the chance. My daily work is to try to get back into the team, like every other player”.
When asked about the next game in the Nuevo Colombino, Iriome commented that “we hope for a victory in Huelva. It won't be easy. They need to win too. On our side, the goal is to get off the bottom of the table as soon as possible”.
“It is an error to think past the next game. What will happen in the following weeks aren't yet important. The league is very balanced. This team has quality and the league is long. The key is to improve game by game, training after training session”, he concluded.
For David Prieto the wait for the next match “has been very long. From the moment the game against Granada was suspended we have concentrated on the match against Recre. We don't think about any game but the one in front of us on Sunday”.
“For CD Tenerife all the matches are important. We need to gains points in threes. The first plan is to get out of relegation”, he added.
The defender explained that “the team is working well. I can see more confidence. We want to play in Huelva. In training we all try our hardest. If we all compete at 100 percent there will be a notable difference ”.
“In any instance a draw is no good. We need to go out to win. Anything can happen in the game and finally a draw may be finally what we can achieve”, he ended.

Josmar calls for the fans help.

Josmar Zambrano & David Prieto were the two players to meet the press on Saturday. That were in the press room in the Heliodoro, after the day's training was finished. The CD Tenerife players talked of the importance of this weekends game against Alcorcon and asked once more for the support of the fans.

Zambrano started, he talked about how “always in the second division, it will be a difficult game. We are going to give everything on the field and hope we will keep the three points that we need. We want to escape the bottom of the table as fast as possible”.

The young forward also wanted to thank the fans for all the support the team have received in spite of their terrible position in the table: “The fans are with us. We hope to see many fans here in the stadium tomorrow and that they will support us as always. We know the situation is complicated, but we are a good team and can start to do better”.

Josmar was asked about his personal improvement over the last few months. How he felt about moving up into the first team, being given a chance to play and then starting for the team at home. To this he commented “I am really happy and very calm. I know I need to work hard every day to have the coach trust me and have confidence in me. I need to move little by little and appreciate the chances I have to play in the first eleven. I know too I still have a lot to learn”.

For his part, David Prieto talked in the first instance about the importance the fans have this season so far. “The role of the fans is admirable. We hope this week to play a great game to be able to go home on Sunday happy. We will need to work, fight and stick together. The whole team wants to play a good game and win a victory. We need to add points three by three2, stated the defender.

Prieto also advised that the newly ascended Alcorcón was a strong team: “They are playing very consistently. But I feel we need to centre ourselves on our game and play well. That way we will have more chances to win the game”.

C D Tenerife 1 - 1 Numancia Game notes

Another point brings the total to 2 and still in last place. Slowly the team seems to look like something but a fair referee might just help. A hand ball in the Numancia penalty box wasn't punished and a last man attack on Iriome was just ignored.
The team struggles on and hopes to improve soon.

CD Tenerife - Valencia CF

In the best game I have seen Tenerife play this season they managed to hold Valencia to a 0-0 draw. Not for chances did their score stay at Zero. Tenerife had 16 shots at goal. Sometime we need to get lucky and something go in. That said Ceasr, Valencia's 38 year old keeper was awesome. Everything that came his way he stopped.
Our defense was good and Manolo was exceptional. The team resembled the team from last year where they fought to the end in every game. I hope they will play next week against Zaragoza with the same intensity.

Undeserved loss

It takes me ages to come to terms with losing especially when like this is was undeserved. They played really well and in one minute of unconcentrated play Zaragoza managed to score a goal. I am not the only person, everyone I have talked to says CD Tenerife played well and at least deserved to win. Zaragoza have spent lot of money on players, where as we have spent very little. We looked the better side.
Playing for us were:
Aragoneses, Marc Bertrán, Bellvís, Manolo Martínez, Luna, Ricardo, Román (Omar, 62), Alfaro (Ángel, 80) Kome (Saizar, 86), Richi & Nino.

Playing for Zaragoza were:
Carrizo, Ayala, Pablo Amo, Jorge López, Uche (Obradovic, 88’), Pennant (Ander Herrera, 70’), Gabi, Aguilar (Babic, 70’), Arizmendi, Ponzio & Laguardia.
Yellow cards were given to Arizmendi for Zaragoza and for us to Luna, Román, Bellvís, Manolo Martínez y Nino.

The start of the game had both sides playing very carefully watching to see how the other was going to play. Both seemed more preoccupied with not letting a goal in than actually scoring the first gol. Slowily Tenerife started to move towards the 3/4 line with the aim to score.

In the 4th minute Jermain Pennant ex Liverpool player had a shot towards the gola but Arizmendi failed to convert it into a goal and the ball went out. In the next play Tenerife counterattatcked and Alfaro shot with the ball hitting the post.

shortly after the 30 minute mark Tenerife had a clear shots at goal, first with Richi shooting a header and secondly Nino with a ferocious shot at the Zaragoza goal.

Again and again Tenerife took the ball all the way to the local teams area playing with precision and courage. Just before half time Tenerife players Alfaro and Nino missed great possible shots at goal leaving the half time score 0-0.

The first part of the second half the ball moved from one end to the other in a constant rhythm of up and down. The teams both knowing the importance of starting the league with points. They chased the ball without stopping in a constant stream of energy. Uche and Kome were always in the action and created chances where they played. Inspite of the fact Tenerife played well Zaragoza's goal came in the minute. From a play by Herrera who had just come onto the field ending up at the feet of Arizmendi who scored.

The last few minutes of the game both sets of players were tired and you could see the mistakes. there were fewer sequences of passes and the game was more choppy. It ended in a win for Zaragoza which gives them their first three points.

The Table looks interesting with Athletico Madrid who are actually playing in the Champions league last ( 1 game missing). Tenerife is 16th with no chance of being in the last 3 positions this week.

The team have also announced that they now have 14.050 season ticket holders. I would expect the figure to start to rise after Tuesday when many holders get paid.

Season ticket prices out for CD Tenerife

The club anounced the prices for the season tickets yesterday. The press conference was at 1.30 but they didn't finally put the prices on their website until after 6pm.
There was aparently outcry in the city but when we worked out what we paid this year the prices were not much more.
Here are the prices. I haven't put the renewal prices here for C D Tenerife just new season tickets and seat prices.

Video from Armada Sur

I was checking out the internet looking for how ro get to the away game in Girona. As I was looking I found this video on the Armada Sur site (A south Tenerife fan club site).

This is a great view of the highlights of the game including the great goal from Alfaro.

Flights for the game on saturday seem to be about 230 euros for a one day fligh bus and entry. This is out of my budget so I guess we will go to Santa Cruz to watch the game.

CD Tenerife to the first division!!!

For the first time there was the shout in the stadium of 'We are going to the first division "Nos Vamos a Primera" 'On a warm sunny Sunday morning nearly 17,000 people managed to come to see their team. Considering the game was also televised this was a great turnout.
There was a memorial for Rommel Fernandez. Cristo presented flowers at the memorial which was at the Popular end of the field.

The game started well and there was a early chance by JuanLu which hit the side bar. Alfaro headed the first goal in minute 23 and followed it up with another header in the goal 25 minutes later. The final goal was form Juan Lu. Although Nino had chances it just wasn't his day. Ayoze, Angel and Cristo Marrero

Tenerife v. Murcia

It seems every game is a final this late into the season. We move form game to game calculating and recalculating to see the possibility of us ending up in the top 3 and actually going up to La Liga.
Tenerife has actually not lost at home since the 30/11/2008. There was a draw on the 15th of march but other than that we have won every game. Tomorrows game is at 12.00 as it is the Canal Plus game for sunday morning. Tickets behind the home goal are sold out but there are seats everywhere else. Murcia have a few injured but will be looking to play well so Tenerife will need to play their best and we should have another win.

Derby day

This is the big day. Tenerife are playing Las Palmas at 5.30pm this afternoon. The stadium is sold out for the first time since 2003. There were queue for 4 days to buy tickets and all the tickets sold out on the day they were released. The first section behind the goal selling within 1 hour.

There has been a call from one of the fan clubs that flags should be flown all over the Island and I will be hanging up a flag on our balcony as soon as I get home from work.
Have a great day and wherever you are support Tenerife.

C D Tenerife won 5-1

Today was a great day. I don't think I have ever seen Tenerife score 5 goals. We had to get up early to get to Santa Cruz but it was definitely worth it.
Goles were scored 2 Alfaro 2 Richi and 1 from Nino. They played really well and held the ball endlessly in the second half.
Here are some video clips taken at the game.
This is whilst they warm up.

The Canarian flag and our new screen.

The teams comming out to play.

The start of the second half

During play

I thought I had the end of the game and the final score and the fact we are again 2nd in the league but I obviously pressed the wrong button. We are going in 2 weeks to the Canarian Derby against Las Palmas which Thomas has never been happy about our going to before. I am really looking forward to it.

Have a great day.

The other thing we went out to eat at a restaurant in San Isidro on Friday. The food was wonderful and the service was good. It is called El Jable and if you want information please contact me.
