Relegation always hurts - stated David Prieto

Sebastián Dubarbier & David Prieto were the two players from CD Tenerife who were interviewed by the press on Thursday. The Argentine and the player from Andalucia meet the press after the training session which took place in the Ciudad Deportiva Geneto-Los Baldíos.
Dubarbier is clear that “We need to play with enthusiasm as the situations is very hard for the fans, but the players need to concentrate on their work”.
The mid fielder showed himself pleased to have overcome his physical problems which have keep him form the field in the last few weeks, “I hope to play on Saturday, either from the bench or on the field. This injury has driven me mad. The problem with my ankle was strange but now I feel better. The pain is now bearable”.
“The new trainer is trying to help the team but creating order” he commented about the arrival of David Amaral to the technical squad.
David Prieto started by saying that “We need to improve, no one expected the team to be here at this stage in the league we need to find the three points this Saturday. We have things that need correcting”.
“In am trying to work all week to be in the eleven, but the coach is the one who decides”, he said about his options of returning to the team.
“The season has been complicated since the start. They are difficult days for everyone”, admitted Prieto, adding to this: “Whilst mathematically there are chances, we need to fight every points. We need to hold onto that, We need to finish the season in a dignified manor. Being relegated is something that hurts a lot”.

Nino asks for the fans help

Nino & David Prieto were the two players who attended the press. The forward from Almeria started talking about the arrival of David Amaral to the blue and white bench. “He knows the squad. He is demanding and wants to see the team one hundred percent committed. He is correcting things especially with the Saturday game in mind. We need to work together, be strong and stick together on the field”.
In reference to the vital game against SD Huesca, the Andalusian player pointed out that “The game on Saturday is very important for the team and we need to win. In everyone's mind there is the game against Huesca. We know it won't be easy but we need the three points”.
Nino also talked about the situation CD Tenerife finds itself. “everything we have lived through in the last months has been complicated. The situation is bad but we can get out from under here. We need to do this however we can. The only thin in our mind right now is Huesca”.
To finish the CD Tenerife forward spoke of the fans. “We know who we have in the stands. The fans are with the team and lets see if we can give them something in return”.
David Prieto, also started talking about David Amaral. “ He is a demanding trainer in every way, he is on top of the team. He tries to correct our errors and lets see if this helps us and will let us win the three points. These are decisions which the club takes. We need to adapt as soon as we can to his ideas”.
To finish the defender from Seville reminded that the next game against Huesca “is the most important game. We need to win. Then lets seeafter that. I am optimistic. We are united and were only thinking about the game”, he concluded.

The SD Huesca squad arrive on Friday in the north airport at 18.20 and will transfer to the Hotel Silken Atlantida where they will be staying.


The CD Tenerife B team won in La Palmera against San Isidro and this leaves them in second position. They won by 0-1 and this is their fifth consecutive victory.

Marc Bertran thinks the team can be saved.

The CD Tenerife captain, Marc Bertrán, was one of the players interviewed today Tuesday in the press room in the El Mundialito training grounds. First he spoke of the game against Cordoba, “Everything got very complicated, there is no denying this. We need everyone of us to find the best we can from inside ourselves and bring this to the games that are left. Not so long ago we won three games out of four and we can repeat this now”.
“We are all playing for everything” continued the defender from Llerida. He added that, “here in the changing rooms we believe we can do this and now is the time to show the fans. We need to achieve results. That the fans are angry is normal. We owe them a great deal”.
Bertrán, also spoke of the union between the squad and how they hope to solve this together, “The captains are here to help, and in a team everyone is important. If we pull together we can do this. Without a doubt. We are going to fight to the end. No doubts, we are going to get to the end”.
Lastly and in reference to the next rival the blue and white number ‘2’ indicated that “We know that Elche is doing well right now, but our situation means we have to go out for those points. With a victory, the things will seem different. The reality is this, we are who we are and nothing counts except going out to look for solutions”.
For his part, David Prieto, who was also interviewed, started by talking about the possible squad for the next game. “I hope to be able to help the team. I have been training hard in the hope I would get another chance to play. We need to work hard the weeks that are left and if I get to play I will try as best as I can to help the team”.
Above all when asked about the squad he replied, “We need to change our mentality. We are not gong to give up and we will give everything against Elche. We need to raise our heads and look forward. The three points from Sunday are really important”, he finished.

Training again today and interviews with Mikel Alonso and David Prieto

The CD Tenerife first team went back to work this morning . Starting training at 11am in the Mundialito grounds, later than normal as the previous game was last night.
The members of the squad who played did recovery and there was more intensive training for those who hadn't played.
Marc Bertrán was in the gym away from the group. Sergio Aragoneses couldn't finish the session. Mikel Alonso trained normally although the last section he did specific recovery exercises. Josmar Zambrano, from the B team was also present. The next session is on Friday at 10am also in the El Mundialito after which will be the weekly press conference with Antonio Tapia.

Mikel Alonso is missed, the Basque midfielder has been unavailable for the last few games because of an unfortunate back injury. That said, he is working to be back as soon as possible under coach Antonio Tapia's orders and be able to help the group.
“I feel better every day. I am achieving more each day but I am still not altogether well. With the help of the medical team I hope to be back as soon as possible. I hope maybe for the game against Girona but if it not to be then soon”, explained the Tenerife player.
The player, who was interviewed in Thursday's press conference. Also talked about he last game, the draw against Granada: “The win escaped us and we feel deceived. For one thing or another we are losing important points. We know what our objective is in the second half of the season. We have these hopes and every day we work hard thinking only about those objectives”.
“we need results, the situation is difficult but no we need to maintain our confidence” he added.
David Prieto was also interviewed. For the left defender, the objective for the next few months I clear: “In the first half we got left behind and in the second we need to be good. We need to add points especially the three against Girona”.
When asked about the change of trainer, with Mandia leaving and Tapia arriving, Prieto said he believes, “every coach has his ideas and his style of working. We are trying to assimilate this as quickly as possible”.
Lastly, with reference to Wednesday’s game against Granada, the defender commented that “with the 2-1 we should have closed the game. We need to learn these things. We only think about the three points. We should build a good defence, the group should stick together and push for a win. We need to work well and be prepared. But above all we need to think we can win against Girona”.

Players comments during the first week of the year.

There were various player interviews this week and I have put them into this post. On Wednesday David Prieto and Marc were interviewed.

David Prieto is confident that the team will triumph again on Sunday against Albacete Balompié. The central defender for CD Tenerife admitted that “the point we added away from home really counts for us because we managed to draw on two occasions coming back each time. Now we are only thinking about adding the three points at home”.
The blue and white player told that he feels better now after the knock that he received in Real Valladolid “I have some pains in my neck, but nothing more”. This way the island player stated that “in the Heliodoro we want to be strong and achieve triumphs. We know how important it is to win this Sunday. From there we will be able to concentrate and making January a good month”.

David Prieto reminded that “the important game is Albacete, amongst other reasons because it is the next game we play. We need to achieve this victory to make us strong. The way things are, every game is vital. We need to make the point against Valladolid count”.

For his part, Marc Bertrán who also attended the press conference hoped, “to be fit to play this weekend, I feel well and am happy. Last Sunday the team was good and played well. We need to take forward the positive factors from that game”.

Now, the blue and white defender hopes “this will be a new year in all senses. Lets see if the team can move up and recover confidence. At home, with our fans, we need to be strong and play as a competitive team. That's how we can get out from under.”.

Bertrán admitted that “we are concentrated on the weekend and the only thin that is important is Albacete. These are three vital points and right now all I can think about is the situation the group finds itself in, in how to help CD Tenerife leave the relegation zone. The team needs everyone to move forwards”.
He was then asked if he could see himself leaving to which he replied that anything was possible. The following day he rectified this statement saying he thought the question meant in June not in the winter. He confirmed again that he was very committed to the team and really wanted to help them. He then assured the press that he would not be leaving in January.

Wednesday afternnon after training Dani Kome, Natalio, Julio Álvarez, Iriome, Carlos Bellvís, Mikel Alonso & Luis García went to the university hospital to visit children who were staying in the hospital over the holidays.

Also on Thursday, Natalio Lorenzo & Mikel Alonso were the duo who met the press, in the HRL after the training session there.
Natalio started saying, “To get this month on the right track we need to win the next game, this is important”. He followed by saying that “ the fans are really loyal to the team and it is normal that they are fed up with the results. This Sunday, everyone together we will win. The Heliodoro needs to be a fortress”.
Natalio Lorenzo noted that the rival this weekend is “Albacete, they are reinforcing their team so it will be hard. There are three important points in play.
We all know the situation, and we need to meet this situation bravely. We play at home, in the Heliodoro, with all our people and we can show everyone positive moves”.
“The coach is very demanding will each and every one of us. I am trying to bring the best of me to every session and game”, he concluded.
On his side, Mikel Alonso also talked about the unbelievable importance of the game this Sunday against Albacete: “we need the points and more so at home. This could be a good game and e are all keen to bring home the three points. Last Sunday, the team showed they could react. We showed we could play well and that point counts high”.
When asked about the next rival the basque midfielder pointed out that “Albacete right now are direct rivals and we need to beat them to move up”.
“The changing room is in form. But this is a difficult season. We know we need triumphs”. When asked about his future on the island, Alonso only commented that “ I am centered on the club and the tam this isn't the moment to talk about individuals”.

The club also released an in depth interview with Sergio Aragoneses who came to the club the first time in September 2000. His first game then was against Albacete. This Sunday will be the 150th league game he has played for the club. “I always looked up to Luis Miguel Arconada” stated the keeper. “He was a reference for my generation, in Spanish football he was a keeper who marked an era”.

-¿Was CD Tenerife the team who most signified for you as a player?
“The truth is yes. This is the club who gave me the chance to play in the first and second divisions. I am proud to say I play for them and will always be grateful to CDT for these chances”.
-¿Where do you think you would have gone if you hadn't come to play for the blanquiazul in 2000?
“I had some offers but it was here that called me most. especially with the players who were here. I bet that Tenerife was the right choice and I think I made the right decision”.
-¿How could teams like Deportivo, Celta or even at that time teams like Compostela, let a keeper of your qualities go?
“Life is like that. They saw that a prophet is never appreciated in his home town. It is true that I would have loved to play for one of the teams in my region but things didn't work out that way. I am grateful to the teams I had the chance to play for”.
-This Sunday will be the game number 150 in league games you have played for Tenerife?
“ For any player 150 games is an important number of games to have played in one club. To have worn the Tenerife colours all these years and in so many games is wonderful and I hope to keep doing so”.
-¿How do you see the team?
“The group seem calm. Still, we need to be conscious of the situation we find ourselves in and we all take part in this worry. We need to go out to every game as if it is a authentic final to try to achieve the three points each round. The most important objective right now is to save the team. For this we need a lot of points. We need to start now, this Sunday, to aspire to stop being last”.
-Next month you will be 34 and you seem fit enough top go on playing for a while
“I hope so. I find I am well both physically and mentally. I still have the same hopes and dreams as when I started and no one can take them away”.
-¿Can you see yourself any where else in another team who aren't Tenerife?
“Right now I see myself here. I am very comfortable here both professionally and personally. It is the club who found me and bought me her to the island, I feel like another Tenerifian”.
-If anything with the passing of time the fans seem to esteem you more and more......
“Trust develops little by little. In my case, I had two stages in Tenerife which were completely different. This is one of the reasons I am proud of the support of the fans”.
-¿Any message for the Tenerife fan base?
“To the fans I can only ask that they maintain the support we have seen for the last three years. They are especially good and this will help us move out from the bottom of the table”.

Hopeful for Sunday against Recreativo de Huelva

Iriome & David Prieto were the players in the press room on Wednesday in the El Mundialito grounds. Both players talked about the next game and how that is much more important than the future for CD Tenerife.
Iriome started, he recognised that “it has been a strange week as we didn't play on Sunday. But on the other hand we have had much more time to work and improve our game”.
For the local player, the forced rest over the weekend shouldn't prove a stopping point for the recovery CD Tenerife have shown in the last few weeks: “The consistency we have shown is the result of hard work. This break should have no effect on our play. The group are improving training session after training session”.
In the purely personal the young man from Icod de los Vinos explained “I have had various games without playing and would really like the chance. My daily work is to try to get back into the team, like every other player”.
When asked about the next game in the Nuevo Colombino, Iriome commented that “we hope for a victory in Huelva. It won't be easy. They need to win too. On our side, the goal is to get off the bottom of the table as soon as possible”.
“It is an error to think past the next game. What will happen in the following weeks aren't yet important. The league is very balanced. This team has quality and the league is long. The key is to improve game by game, training after training session”, he concluded.
For David Prieto the wait for the next match “has been very long. From the moment the game against Granada was suspended we have concentrated on the match against Recre. We don't think about any game but the one in front of us on Sunday”.
“For CD Tenerife all the matches are important. We need to gains points in threes. The first plan is to get out of relegation”, he added.
The defender explained that “the team is working well. I can see more confidence. We want to play in Huelva. In training we all try our hardest. If we all compete at 100 percent there will be a notable difference ”.
“In any instance a draw is no good. We need to go out to win. Anything can happen in the game and finally a draw may be finally what we can achieve”, he ended.

David Prieto and Antonio Hidalgo comment on the next game.

David Prieto & Antonio Hidalgo we the two players who attended the press conference on Wednesday in the press room in the El Mundialito training grounds.
The Sevillian defender, was first, he spoke of the recent team triumphs. “We hope to continue on the path we are on and move up the table. We can't stop now. Defensively we are working well. If we can stop the goals coming in again it will be easier to to win especially with the offensive potential we have”.
Following this theme Prieto continued saying “We need to go out strongly as the group is growing and we are now more confident. The results are what we needed and we need to continue this way, all of us not just me are improving no end. Thanks to the team each individual can grow and progress to be able to help the games to a win”.
When asked about the jump the blue and whites made up the table, the lad from Andalusia pointed out that “The classification is there, but we need to concentrate on the game against Granada. Adding points little by little we will move away from the bottom of the table”.
To finish David Prieto, analyzed the next league rival. “Granada has a squad who are at a very good level. I know several of their players who were in Jerez with me and I know that our next rival will not be gifting us anything”.
Antonio Hidalgo, for his part started talking about his chances to return to starting for the team due to the accumulation of yellow by Ricardo & Natalio. “One always works hard to play within the first eleven. It would seem because of the absence of a couple of players. The coach has various choices but I may have an option to play and if this chance arrives this Sunday I will try to make the most of it”.
About the moment the team finds themselves right now the midfielder from Barcelona signaled that “from the beginning we were looking for a positive dynamism, lets see if we continue this way, although the team coming are a fairly complicated rival. We have had some tough moments and we need to leave them behind but not forget them, Then we need to keep growing. I understand the improvement is evident”.
Hidalgo, certainly advised that there should be caution and they should thing game by game. “You need to change little by little. Nothing would help if we look beyond the next game this weekend. Against Nástic we took a body blow although we have managed to overcome this”, he concluded.

Josmar calls for the fans help.

Josmar Zambrano & David Prieto were the two players to meet the press on Saturday. That were in the press room in the Heliodoro, after the day's training was finished. The CD Tenerife players talked of the importance of this weekends game against Alcorcon and asked once more for the support of the fans.

Zambrano started, he talked about how “always in the second division, it will be a difficult game. We are going to give everything on the field and hope we will keep the three points that we need. We want to escape the bottom of the table as fast as possible”.

The young forward also wanted to thank the fans for all the support the team have received in spite of their terrible position in the table: “The fans are with us. We hope to see many fans here in the stadium tomorrow and that they will support us as always. We know the situation is complicated, but we are a good team and can start to do better”.

Josmar was asked about his personal improvement over the last few months. How he felt about moving up into the first team, being given a chance to play and then starting for the team at home. To this he commented “I am really happy and very calm. I know I need to work hard every day to have the coach trust me and have confidence in me. I need to move little by little and appreciate the chances I have to play in the first eleven. I know too I still have a lot to learn”.

For his part, David Prieto talked in the first instance about the importance the fans have this season so far. “The role of the fans is admirable. We hope this week to play a great game to be able to go home on Sunday happy. We will need to work, fight and stick together. The whole team wants to play a good game and win a victory. We need to add points three by three2, stated the defender.

Prieto also advised that the newly ascended Alcorcón was a strong team: “They are playing very consistently. But I feel we need to centre ourselves on our game and play well. That way we will have more chances to win the game”.
