Saturday interviews with Igor and Antonio Hidalgo.

Igor was one of the two players who was interviewed on Saturday after the training session on Saturday morning in the Maracena grounds. The CD Tenerife forward talked about the match this Sunday in Granada in Los Cármenes and the state of mind the squad has.
“We want to demonstrate that we are still capable even in this difficult situation. Right now we need to concentrate on Granada and how to win. We are approaching a difficult game both because of the rival and because few teams have managed to achieve points in this stadium. The group knows how difficult it will be”, indicated the Brazilian.
“We need to think about how we are going to play not what is going on in other games. The situation is difficult but not impossible. We need to fight to the end”, she added.
When asked about himself, Igor pointed out “I am pleased to have been called to the squad again and hope to get the chance to play. I am here for the coach”.
“The best we can do is play this Sunday. We want to win. We want to feel that feeling you get with a win again. If we work hard we can do this”.
This is how Antonio Hidalgo started his interview with the press. The Catalan mid fielder knows how difficult it will be in Los Cármenes on Sunday, but he knows the team are professional and they will give everything.
“It will be a good game in a full stadium. We would have liked to have come here with other results behind us, but it isn't so. We will need to go out and play at the same level as our rivals. If we play that way we will have chances. The game against Alcorcon is a good reference” he explained.
Hidalgo had hoped that CD Tenerife had achieved a different result last weekend, when they lost against Villarreal B: “I trust that we will look better. As a player I want to compete well against rivals at their level. This year has been hard but the reality is that we are capable of doing this”.
“We need to demonstrate to the coach that we can do this and that we can fight to the end. We need to show this in every game” he concluded.

Interviews after the loss against Alcorcon.

David Amaral was positive when he talked about the commitment the players had on the field in spite of the loss suffered against Alcorcón this weekend. The CD Tenerife trainer talked about the specific mistakes which caused the group to lose in Santo Domingo.
Amaral started by explaining “it was hard. We tried to get everything and it isn't normal that games go that way. Specific errors deprived us of the points we so need”.
“The squad is demoralised. Today the lads gave everything. This was a hard blow but life goes on”. Added David Amaral, he continued “the team did everything they should but little mistakes made us lose. In football, when you least expect it things can turn around. If we break this run they this will lift their moral”.
Above all the act that made the 1-1, the island coach commented that “without hiding behind anything, more than the penalty what I want to complain about is the previous foul. I don't know if there was hand ball or not. But the penalty was called and there can be no objection”.
In his analysis of the game, David Amaral counted that, “ after the 1-2 they went all out . They forced us back and their shots at goal arrived after that when we made mistakes”.
When asked about the changing rooms after the loss this weekend, the coach from Arico signalled that “This was a hard blow as twice we were a goal up. Our rival achieved things when they were desperate. We could have finished the game and we didn't”.
Amaral recognised that the team was more solid against Alcorcón than against Huesca, something that “at home we are under more pressure but away we are more free. Against Alcorcón today we went out of the attack. The games were laid out differently. The run has to be stopped so we can start to work. There is nothing else but to pick up little by little, helping each other. The suffering and exhaustion in the group is high. We need to try to compete in a dignified manner”.
David Amaral doesn't want the team to throw in the towel: “We need to fight because we are professionals, because there are options and there may even be an administrative loophole”.
“We can't hope to win a number of games when we haven't yet won a game. Although mentally we are bad the only thing that counts is win so we can help” he concluded.
There are no excuses, the CD Tenerife players feel deceived after the loss on Sunday in Santo Domingo against Alcorcón.

Luna: “The things didn't go. We gave everything and could have won. We tried our hardest to stop their goals. Alcorcón at home is a great team, and today they demonstrated it as they have all season. We are very sad for how things are going. There are no words”.
Melli: “The team tried hard. We were up twice and we had the game under control. In spite of this work we lost the game. I didn't see the penalty that led to the 1-1. We have been the hole year making the same mistakes. A win here would have given us so much confidence. I think the game was planned well and we played it out. Now we need to move on to the next game. We will go on trying”.
Nino: “We are really bad but we need to go on. The games that are still to come need to be played with hard work and commitment. I am cross and when I am cross explanations are internal not external. I think that we are missing things, that some things aren't clear. The options that are left are complicated with only 8 games left. There is nothing more to do but think about the game against Villarreal”.
Antonio Hidalgo: “Football is punishing us. We played the first half well and we were dominating the game for most of the time. Twice we went ahead but all that work wasn't enough to give us a win. We need to keep believing that we can do this until there are no more chances”.

Interview with Omar and Antonio Hidalgo after Wednesday training.

“We want to win. The moment if difficult. Things haven't gone our way but we are going to fight to save the team”. This is how the press conference with Omar Ramos started, who added that “it is complicated but there are chances to continue. We need a win whatever. We know that the situation is horrible for everyone”.
When he was asked about new trainer David Amaral, the local player commented “the training sessions have been hard, intense, as the coach likes, and that us good for the team. He is in control of us. We know what we need to do and we need to work together”.
To finish, Omar analysed the next team, Alcorcon. “In their home ground they are a really complicated rival, although we are playing for everything. We need to be concentrated and think only about this Sunday”.
Antonio Hidalgo was the second player to be interviewed on Wednesday in the Heliodoro, he spoke of his physical state. “Today e trained hard and I fell good. If I carry on like this I am sure I will be fit for the game if the coach needs me to help. From outside the field you feel things really badly”.
About Alcorcón, the footballer from Cataluyna said “it is one of the best team at home. We will try to make this our game and look for a win. We know that everything is difficult but We can do it if we try”.
Concluding, Hidalgo spoke of David Amaral. “His training sessions are very strenuous and the trainer is demanding of his footballers. We need to stick together to move forward. We need to lift up our heads and defend the colours in every game that is left”.

Antonio Hidalgo was one of the players who talked to the press in the Heliodoro Rodríguez López on Wednesday. He analysed the upcoming game for the blue and whites. The mid fielder felt that the new coach didn't make for “a good moment. But results are what count right now. We have a fundamental game on Saturday and we need the fans”.
The CD Tenerife player also had some words about the new coach “David Amaral knows the club well and is tremendously positive. With a new coach, there are always new choices for every one. We know that things are difficult, but with the help of everyone we hope we can improve. David (Amaral) is very experienced as a coach and knows how it is to train in this club. He puts all his heart into everything.
 
When asked about his physical state, Antonio Hidalgo explained that “I think I will be fit for the game on Saturday. You need to be careful with muscle injuries, but I will do my best to be fit”.
 
The second player interviewed was Sergio Aragoneses, who talked about the game against Huesca:”We have nothing else to do but give our best and win the three points this Saturday to keep us alive and look to get out of relegation”.
 
The keeper, one of the captains of the first team, commented on the new trainer: “He is going to try to help us, make us think we have the chance to move up and that we need to be brave. I trained with him some years ago and know that he is very demanding when it comes to work. We have a new trainer and the idea is this change will produce a result”.

First session cheers from the fans.

David Amaral led his first training session for CD Tenerife today, Wednesday. The local coach stepped once more on the grass in the Heliodoro Rodríguez López as chief trainer for a session which lasted and hour and a half.
Before it started, both Antonio Tapia and Antonio “Toño” Hernández said goodbye to the players. Afterwards the sports director for the club, Juanjo Lorenzo, presented the new training team, formed of David Amaral & Quique Medina, to the whole squad so they could take part in the workout which then took place on the grass in the HRL.
 
When they came on the pitch, both David Amaral and Quique Medina were received with applause by the many fans who were at the session.
 
With reference to the actual training the team warmed up, and followed this with exercise with the ball. After some rounds with the ball and some tactical practise, and the training was then finished with a game in reduced space.
 
Dani Kome trained at the edge of the group and Omar Ramos & Antonio Hidalgo completed most of the session with their colleges.
 
The squad will train again tomorrow, Thursday, from 10am, in the Heliodoro Rodríguez López.

Nino and Hidalgo talk

“In the changing room you can feel the sense of responsibility. Our situation is very bad and has been since we first started this year. We are all suffering badly and want to move up the table however we can”.
This is how the captain Nino started his interview today Wednesday in the Heliodoro. He talked for a long time about how difficult the team were finding things and how it affected them.
“We are preparing for the game. We had another blow last weekend and hope to break this bad run. We need to feel better. We want to do this. Against Elche we need to win as they are three very important points. Nothing else counts but to win. We need to take the step once and for all and move up the table. We have the ability to beat Elche” he stated.
Nino played a large part of his career for Elche CF, but right now there is no thought about being sentimental: I always like to visit the Martínez Valero stadium. But right now CD Tenerife is playing for everything”.
“I am confident that my colleagues can move forward. Every one of us has a special character and we are all going to fight as hard as we can. It is a really bad feeling to be where we are right now” commented the player from Almeria. He sees Antonio Tapia as the most important person to help the group saying: “The coach is really helping us. We are all together and this is how we will go on, along that line”.
“No one thought we would be here now. We are troubled to live through this situation and are going to try our best. We are going to try to stay fresh. We need to work for the fans that we have. I am still amazed by how things are here. I have lived through some great moments in my career and nearly all of the, have been with CD Tenerife. This is the sport to live for”, he finished
Antonio Hidalgo was the other player interviewed this Wednesday. He stated that, “On a sporting level this has been the most difficult season of my career. But no one here is going to give up. No one should think that we are not going to fight to the end. Here with this squad we have played better and worse but we have always tried to do our best”.
For Hidalgo it is evident that “We are doing very badly. We can't hide from that. The worst thing that can happen is that we drown in this pessimism. That the fans no longer believe in us. We hope with this thought in mind to look for the win on Sunday to help us with this”.
“Right now the situation is very complicated and we need to prove ourselves. We are really cross knowing all that the team means for the island. There is nothing left but to play for three points”, he added.
“We need to be brave and demonstrate we are still alive. We need to step up as now every game needs to count. We need to go back to playing the way we were five rounds ago”, the player finished.

At the end of the CD Tenerife-Xerez CD game, the faces of the local players reflected the happiness they felt at the victory and the fact for the first time this season the team was out of the relegation positions. The players to attend the press were goal scorers Pablo Sicilia & Antonio Hidalgo, as well as Richie Kitoko who played for the first time in the Heliodoro.



Sicilia: “The fans were great. We need to thank them for all their help. We suffered but we are going home happy. The feeling in the team is different today. We are improving. Again we were better. At the start of the game there weren't many chances but towards the end it was different. Who scored isn't important. What counts is that we gained three more points. The best thing is the happy faces of my collegues in the dressing room. Not only are we out of relegation but we are getting better”.

Hidalgo: “Today is a day to enjoy. But we need to carry on adding points as we are seriously short. The team is recovering feelings and points which finally is what counts. We are on a good run. We know what counts is that we win more games. But anyway the league is very even this year and any rival is difficult. Right now we seem batter able to read how we play each game. Xerez has been on of the best teams to pass through the island this year and with victories like this on things look different, better”.

Kitoko: “I am really happy we won and how we played. The most important thing though are the three points. We can't thank the fans enough for their support. We need to keep going the way we are. Right now we are becoming a strong team who gets the respect of every rival and we can go anywhere and win. We received their gaol really quickly and this changed the way we played. CD Tenerife beat Xerez CD (2-1). The victory helped the team lead by Tapia to continue to move up the table and get out of the relegation positions. The local goals were scored by Pablo Sicilia & Antonio Hidalgo, with a penalty. The goal scored by Xerez was two minutes after the second CD Tenerife goal which added emotion to the second half. Xerez animated by this goal put their hearts into the second half but in vain. The three points sstayed at home. Now the team are a little safer.

Wednesday interview with Natalio & Antonio Hidalgo

Natalio & Antonio Hidalgo were the two players interviewed on the press room in the El Mundialito training grounds, where they talked basically about the next game against Xerez CD.
In this form the Valencian footballer stated that “The game this Friday is important as winning it will allow us to get out of relegation. We have to be strong at home. We are anxiously waiting this game”.
Lastly, Natalio repeated that “We are on a good run and in the Heliodoro it is primordial that we don't let any points escape. Every game is individual. Xerez is a strong team with experienced players”,he added.
Antonio Hidalgo, then confirmed that in spite of the loss in Vigo, “Our moral is intact. We are counting on the support of the fans and this is important. We have to continue growing and continue adding points”.
When asked about the importance of the next league game, The mid fielder from Catalonia reminded that “we are in a delicate situation and we need to win to move out of relegation. We want to move up for good from there. We know it will be an achievement and there is still a long way to go to achieve our aims”.
To finish, Antonio Hidalgo made clear that “we always want to play and win”, adding a small thought about the next rival. “Xerez is a solid team and we need to bear this in mind” he finished.

Interviews after the win against Rayo Vallecano

Ezequiel Luna, Antonio Hidalgo & Natalio Lorenzo were the three players from CD Tenerife who passed through the press area on Sunday after the end of the game against Rayo. The blue and white players showed their happiness after the win against the leader of the Liga Adelante.




Luna: “I am happy that we won and above all for a win at home. This second win helps our confidence. Now we need to get back to work for the next game to continue to add points. The team is moving up and this is what we want to do. The group is different now, we see things better. But we still haven't achieved anything we need to continue to fight to move out of relegation. I didn't watch the referee so I can't comment on his calls. But everyone can make mistakes, we are all human after all. As each game passes we feel better. The shame was the goal at the end of the game as we worked very hard not to let in any goals. The fans were a great help today and we thank them”.
Antonio: “The team gets better day by day and this is the line we need to follow. We look more compact right now more like a team. The fans helped us considerably in what was a difficult game. We still have a lot of work to do. Last week the coach tried me in the position Kitoko played at the weekend. He has shown a great deal of confidence in me and I want to thank him for that. Tapia is slowly showing us how we need to play and the results are a confirmation we are doing well. The players have stepped up to the line. When you take a penalty you can have no doubts and this is why I scored twice”.
Natalio: “We know that without working 100% there will be no three points. The trainer talked frequently about the match during the week and the team worked hard to be here. The referee was rigorous, some things were in our favor and some things were not. I am still waiting to score that little goal but I am sure it will come. As we have better results our confidence grows. We were under a lot of pressure but now we are calmer and more relaxed. We are going from less to more but we can't stop now. We need to be ambitious and look up the table”

Then coach Antonio Tapia talked saying “We knew that this would be a hard fought game. We were playing a rival who is on form and leader in the competition. The only way to finish victorious was not to let our guard down. We needed to be good in defence and attack. We should make the most of our chances as we did today. The fans took us with them, their support carried us. Now we have a week in front of us to improve things that can be improved”.
This is how Antonio Tapia commented on the game CD Tenerife won against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday Morning in the Heliodoro. The blue and white trainer emphasised the effort made by the players to beat the leader. The Andalucian coach showed his satisfaction for the result during the press conference which was held after the game during which he made several pointed remarks.
About the refereeing of Pino Zamorano he didn't want to comments much saying “About the referees normally I don't make statements as their job is very hard”. Tapia turned the question around and talked again about his players in the following terms: “The game today was hard fought. We had the chances to win and made the most of them we also managed to neutralise our opponents chances. This was an important victory, against a great rival who is playing well and who has great figures for away wins. This wasn't easy and for this we need to thanks the squad and the fans. On Saturday, in Vigo, we have another complicated game but we need to continue to be humble”.
When asked about the changes in the first eleven, Tapia made clear that, “we will start the players we think will be right for each game. At the end we won this victory. We need to praise those who played and those who didn't as they are all important. We know that still we haven't achieved anything. These were three important points, but there is still a long way to go in the league. We need to remember that our aim is to move out of the relegation zone”.
Antonio Tapia was also questioned about the players he changed and he explained that “we made changes due to the cards given and the needs of the match. Dubarbier was still fit and helping the defence. Sometimes you have to take chances”.
Antonio Tapia then talked about the rival “Rayo also made chances but we neutralised them. This is how our rival only scored one goal. We can't play that our rivals don't score. It isn't the best option for us. Our plan, except at the end when Melli came on is to play the ball, not to close down and play on the other side. We did serious damage with counter attacks”.
“We need to enjoy this victory and disconnect a little. We are still missing rounds to see how the team works out, but I can see we are growing. Today this was clear. We came out of this game positively. This week we will continue ridding ourselves of the heavy weight which is holding us back”, he added.
“We need tot to be euphoric as we have a team with capacity. We need to get out from under with a level of play that permits us efficiency. The idea is to be solid, tight in defence and know how to control specific situations. This Sunday we knew how to control the game against a rival who was more together than we are”, he concluded.

Win against the leader puts CD Tenerife on the path out of relegation.

A second win puts CD Tenerife on the path up and out of the relegation positions which have held them so long at the bottom of the table. Goals from Antonio Hidalgo and Nino served to put them ahead on the score board and secure them the three points they have so desperately needed.

Monday interviews with Antonio Hidalgo & Míkel Alonso

Antonio Hidalgo & Míkel Alonso were the two players who attender the press on Monday after training in the El Mundialito training grounds.
The Catalan midfielder for recognised that the victory in the Helmantico was, “an important victory that reaffirms the style of play we have learnt in the last few games. This triumph not only brings points but helps our moral”, he added.
On this theme Hidalgo continued by saying, “It was fundamental that we won, but today we need to think only about Rayo. With the help of the fans we hope to again celebrate more points”.
In reference to his return to the starting eleven the blue and white player said, “Antonio Tapia, since his arrival, had confidence in me. We are all putting in maximum effort to move out of the situation we are in. There is a long way to go and we need to move up as soon as possible”.
To conclude, the player from Barcelona commented again on the teams position in the table saying, “This season we are suffering. In Salamanca we added three points and that is all. We need to keep going, Really going as there is a long way to go. The next objective is Rayo and after that to move little by little up the table”.
Míkel Alonso, then talked, the player confessed that the last victory, “Changes many things and our position in the table. We need to concentrate on one game at a time and learn how to win, that way things will go well. We are still in a bad position. Right now the leader of the league is visiting and we need to go into this with an attitude that we can win”.
The player from Guiipuzcoana, on the same theme commented how they needed to renew their strength on the island. “At home, traditionally, CD Tenerife has been strong. We need to improve in the Heliodoro. We are looking to able to abandon the relegation positions and wins at home are vital for this. As a squad we need to shine, be solid in defence and difficult to beat. We have made the first step and now we need to move on down that path” he added.
To finish, Alonso spoke about his personal fitness, “The body is in charge. I am improving and hope soon to be fit so I too can help”.

Interviews after the game against UD Salamanca

With the calm nature he is becoming known for Antonio Tapia started his press conference on Saturday after the match against Salamanca by insisting that the team is on the right path.



“These are three important points. In that last two games we didn't manage a win but in each game we have done a good job and played good football. Winning the three points will give us much needed confidence. This is certainly the way we need to go”, the trainer started saying.
“We have been better in defence giving away fewer balls. We scored two gaols and had several more chances. This is how I want to see the team play. We need to remain calm especially after this win as it gives the players three much fought for points. Now we need to concentrate on the next game. At home we can't give away any more points”, he added.
When asked about Kitoko the coach replied “he trained very little with us but it would seem that he can balance the team in midfield but the sending off was a pity. The player today all did a good job”.
“The recent arrivals have had chances. In future games other players will have chances. We need to rotate the players. The main idea is to add points to our total through good play. The team, that fans and the club all deserve a positive week”, he added.
“In the second division and more so right now nobody will gift you anything. There is little difference between all the teams, we have been a long time at the bottom of the table and we are working hard to achieve our objectives which right now are to move out of the relegation area of the league”, he concluded.
Four players were also interviewed after the match against UD Salamanca-CD Tenerife, all were pleased that the team had finally won a game after more than two months without a victory. They all commented that this was the best the team had played this season.
Marc Bertrán: “This was a good game, we were more together. That said our opponents again managed to score from a still ball. This is something we need to work on. We are now five weeks without a loss. This gives us faith. We are moving towards salvation. The one negative thought is we lose Kitoko next weekend. Towards the end Salamanca made things difficult, especially as we had one less but we defended well. The idea is to play a good match against Rayo, the way we need to go is to receive fewer goals”.
Hidalgo: “This was an important victory, a hard fought one. We have again managed to take charge of the game. The team need to keep on working and this victory has helped. Our most important weapon was to control the midfield this is working better. We need to fill the Heliodoro for the next game. We all know there is a long way to go but Kitoko has given us a great push on the ground”.
Kitoko: “I am really pleased we won but being sent off was a blow. The three points were most important and the work done by the whole team. The first yellow card I can see but not the second one. But what really counts is the team were good. I played really well and I am happy about that and that we won. I feel really comfortable with my new colleges and have settled in well”.
Luis García: “Today we bit our teeth and got on with things. We did all the right things to win and we had a little luck. When we talked during the week someone said if we play well we will win and so it was. We practised strategic actions and these really worked out. We can't give up playing the ball, our squad is too good for that. In the play where the goal was disallowed I was pushed and there was a foul whistled. These are things that happen in football. Although our rival managed to get balls near the goal, I think we were better in defence”.

Thoughts from the players and the coach after the game against the game against Granada

The CD Tenerife players are having difficulty coming to terms with the loss on Wednesday against Granada CF. Antonio Hidalgo, Julio Álvarez & Gregory Beranger were the players interviewed after the game, in their talk they gave their impressions of the game and the sorrow they felt for another game to have escaped them and the feeling that once more they lacked luck.

Antonio: “The team was playing at a great level. But as has happened before it escaped us. We can see the victory so close but it resists. I felt very comfortable on the field. I worked well with Julio. It was important that we win, we are adding points to our total but very slowly. The referee without really affecting the game allowed many fouls. This in our situation is not helpful. But on Sunday we have another vital game and we will fight hard for this. We have shown tonight we can play well and the really sad things is having scored two goals we let victory escape us”.
Julio: “I was more comfortable tonight on the field and I think that could be seen. I managed to participate much more. My style of football is with passes and to play the ball. A player always plays better if he is comfortable. And I felt better tonight where I was but that said I will play wherever the coach puts me. In the play where I scored I had a feeling this was my chance. I am really sad that we only managed a draw. Our play with the ball was much better. This time we had 70 good minutes and only 20 minutes not so good. If we continue at this level we will save the team”.
Beranger: “I played because of outside circumstances. But a player always need to be ready to play. Today we managed the most difficult thing which was to turn the result around. Before the game we knew they were dangerous with a stopped ball. In the pause we knew we needed a third goal but it didn't come and then they scored and drew. There are 21 games left and that is time to turn this around. We need to look at our own play although we are affected by the results. Form tomorrow we need to think differently”
Then coach Antonio Tapia talked:
“There are positive factors, in the first half we after they scored we managed to turn the game around. In the second half, with one player more we had chances but the ball didn't go in the net. The team played their guts out but they are still affected by nerves and this leads to mistakes. There were positive things and things they need to improve”.
This was how clear speaking Antonio Tapia started his interview after his first game in the Heliodoro where the team drew against Granada CF. The Andalucian trainer, offered his analysis of the game and the circumstances surrounding the squad.
One of the first questions was why he had changed Melli in the first half and if this was to keep the team on their toes. “As we had one more on the field the idea was to open up with Beranger on the field with a left footed player in his natural position. The substitution wasn't because Melli was doing anything wrong”, he explained.
Then more in depth, the coach explained, “in the second half we came up on the wings and had seven shots at goal. We were missing accuracy and luck”.
“Today we were missing presence in the area. We have no break movements. We were missing the tiles to build a positive result. Though there are positive factors, like the way the fans continue to support the team. We are going to try to enthuse the lads so they can win some points in the next game”, he added.
Tapia understands that the groups in capable of improvement adding that, “we are going to work on some things, deep balls and more presence in the area”.
The new trainer was asked about the feeling of panic the team gave off towards the end of the match, something the Andalucian explained easily: “That is a thought process, the players don't rest properly. This was they don't recover and then they don't play so well”.
Another of the subjects covered by the press was they played who hadn't played in recent games leading Tapia to comment “Julio & Antonio didn't play against Las Palmas. Today they came out and scored. In the next game we will give others a chance”.
When asked about the rival, Antonio Tapia signalled that “They are a great team with a winning run, with great style and good shots at gaol, today they scored a gaol with their first chance. This is strong confidence. The other day they won with 10 men at home. They are a winning group. We need to congratulate them”.
Tapia was also asked about the possible arrival of more players to which he responded “Right now we need to move forwards with the players who are here, that said the squad is small. We are missing bodies in specific positions. The second half of the league will be long”.

I know it will be a fight, says Luna

Antonio Hidalgo is one of the most experienced players in CD Tenerife when it comes to regional derbies. He talks about his experiences here for the derby against UD Las Palmas. The Catalonian who’s first hand how this sort of game brings passion. The mid fielder talks about the classic game in today’s press conference.
Hidalgo started by explaining that “we have a real desire to play. The week has been great and special for us. No one derby that I have played in has left me with the sensations like the CD Tenerife-UD Las Palmas game. I want to experience these sensations as right now nothing else counts but to win. We have to give the fans something to be happy about. I know they have been there since the first minute and the players are need to remember this”.
“This will be a great match with a hard fight. We need to maintain our calm. There is a lot to do. We need to reverse our situation and take the pride we all have inside us and use it in the moment of necessity. It is an even match but we can't forget that it is in the Heliodoro, with our people”, he added.
Antonio Hidalgo remembered with special happiness “the derby in 2004 and the drive the win gave us to move up”.
Although he is immersed in the atmosphere that a classic game brings, Hidalgo hasn't forgotten the bad moment the team finds itself in. “It really distresses me the situation we find ourselves in. I really feel this and work every day to try to help the group. I know we can move forward”.
Ezequiel Luna was also interviewed today. The Argentine defender talked about the derby and in the first place talked about the two derbies he lived through in the 08/09 season. “It was really special. I had the chance to play in both games and we won them. Las Palmas didn't score. Hopefully this Sunday we can repeat that. This isn't any ordinary game. There is so much in play and everyone involved needs to make the consummate effort. .If I get the chance to play, I will play my heart out but always with my head on to think what is best. Every player has his good and bad points and I know we need to concentrate. We need to be 200 percent there, watching everything”.
When asked about the arrival of compatriot Dubarbier, the defender stated that “Sebastián comes to add to the team. He is very talented and wants to add his grain of sand to CD Tenerife. We have to all pull together and above all right now but this is a classic with great feeling. It helps to know the whole island, our fans is behind us”.
Luna was asked if the bad moment that the team is going through will affect the match this weekend, he answered “when you get on the field, you forget the table. We will have to fight and it will be hard but at the end this Sunday the best team will win”.

David Prieto and Antonio Hidalgo comment on the next game.

David Prieto & Antonio Hidalgo we the two players who attended the press conference on Wednesday in the press room in the El Mundialito training grounds.
The Sevillian defender, was first, he spoke of the recent team triumphs. “We hope to continue on the path we are on and move up the table. We can't stop now. Defensively we are working well. If we can stop the goals coming in again it will be easier to to win especially with the offensive potential we have”.
Following this theme Prieto continued saying “We need to go out strongly as the group is growing and we are now more confident. The results are what we needed and we need to continue this way, all of us not just me are improving no end. Thanks to the team each individual can grow and progress to be able to help the games to a win”.
When asked about the jump the blue and whites made up the table, the lad from Andalusia pointed out that “The classification is there, but we need to concentrate on the game against Granada. Adding points little by little we will move away from the bottom of the table”.
To finish David Prieto, analyzed the next league rival. “Granada has a squad who are at a very good level. I know several of their players who were in Jerez with me and I know that our next rival will not be gifting us anything”.
Antonio Hidalgo, for his part started talking about his chances to return to starting for the team due to the accumulation of yellow by Ricardo & Natalio. “One always works hard to play within the first eleven. It would seem because of the absence of a couple of players. The coach has various choices but I may have an option to play and if this chance arrives this Sunday I will try to make the most of it”.
About the moment the team finds themselves right now the midfielder from Barcelona signaled that “from the beginning we were looking for a positive dynamism, lets see if we continue this way, although the team coming are a fairly complicated rival. We have had some tough moments and we need to leave them behind but not forget them, Then we need to keep growing. I understand the improvement is evident”.
Hidalgo, certainly advised that there should be caution and they should thing game by game. “You need to change little by little. Nothing would help if we look beyond the next game this weekend. Against Nástic we took a body blow although we have managed to overcome this”, he concluded.

Wednesday interview with Antonio Hidalgo & Julio Alvarez

Antonio Hidalgo & Julio Álvarez were in the press room this week in the El Mundialito grounds. Both were clear in the thought that the team needs to concentrate on the next game against Huesca.

“Things haven't worked out so far but we need to look forward”, said Antonio Hidalgo he then remembered that “On Sunday they took the three points easily. There is still time and possibility to fix everything. If each of us puts a little more effort then the team will show how much better they can be”.

The blue and white midfielder admitted that “We need to keep adding three points to recover the good feelings. The players are conscious of the situation and have nothing to hide. This is the reality”.

When asked about the next rival, Hidalgo stated that "Huesca has 4 points more than us. The field is small and they like direct football. We know they will be a difficult rival and we are going to try to cut the points difference". When he was asked about his situation he said that "I am not getting to play but everyone needs to keep training as hard as possible until a new opportunity arises”.

For his part, Julio Álvarez coincided when he discussed the last game: "We are really fed up after a loss that didn't make sense. We need to look forward, but no further than the game against Huesca. We are playing for three important points”.

The Venezuelan mid-fielder admitted that against Nastic "the 0-1 was hard and left us really damaged. This is a really hard time for the players but the group is sticking together. Neither excuses nor lamentations count here. We need to demonstrate what we can achieve with three points. If we do things right the final result will more than likely be positive”.

Return of a CD Tenerife player

The first CD Tenerife signing for the season 10/11 is now on the Island. Antonio Hidalgo landed at Los Rodeos airport at mid day on Sunday on a plane form Barcelona. He was accompanied by his agent and the team sports director Santiago Llorente was at the airport to meet him.
Antonio Hidalgo, who player last season for Albacete Balompié, will be taking his medical checks in the Clínica Parque on Monday and will be presented in the press room at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López in the next few days.



Antonio Hidalgo Morilla was born in Granollers and grew up training for FC Barcelona. This offensive midfielder who is now 31 years old passed many of his years as a professional footballer here on the island.

In the summer of 2000 after long conversations the present sports director, Santiago Llorente, managed to convince Barcelona that the player should come on loan. He was very sucessful here and at the end of the 00/01 season the team ascended to the first division.

Antonio debuted in the first and second division with CD Tenerife. He played more than 100 games for the club last time around and was also captain.In the last of his 5 seasons with the club he started to score more goals (5 goals). After his contract ended he went to play for Malaga in the first division. He playerd there for 3 years scoring 28 goals in league games. Finishing his final year there with a new ascension to the first division

In the season 08/09 he took part in another ascension to the first division, in this case with Real Zaragoza, although he oly played the first half of the season. In the sesond half he played for Osasuna on loan,and they too went up to the Liga BBVA. After he had finished his contract with Zaragoza, Hidalgo acepted a contract with Albacete Balompié. Here the midfielder was decisive in their salvation in the 9/10 season scoring nine goals most of which were decisive. Including three in the last two games in the league against Girona & Cartagena. Inspite of the teams desire to renew Hidalgo had decided the time had come for a change.

Many teams had approached him to come a play for them but after he knew that CD Tenerife was interested in him that was that. The player was in the Montilivi stadium on the 13th of June 2009 for the game against Girona and saw the team who made his career return to the first division. Now he is back with " maximium faith" and with more experience to play for the club where he played most of the profesional games in his career. With 300 league games and 45 goals a player who wants to help CD Tenerife will be sure to be greeat.

New signing - Antonio Hidalgo

Catalan midfielder Antonio Hidalgo has become the first signing for CD Tenerife for the new 2010/2011 season. The player who already wore the blue and white colours for five seasons from 2000 to 2005, has signed for the next 2 years.

Antonio Hidalgo Morilla (Granollers, 06/02/1979) played last season for Albacete, in the second Division. The footballer played 33 games for the team form La Mancha, scoring 9 goals. During his time on the island hidalgo played  122 league games and  8 in the Kings Cup. As well he scored almost a dozen goals. The Catlan player said he was "very happy" to be returning to CD Tenerife. and thanked the club saying "I am greatful for the club to have shown such an interest in me." Antonio Hidalgo added when he talked to the club website " I am proud to be coming back to what was my home for five years and I hope to be able to help make the team as competitive as possible to achieve our objective." The new CD Tenerife player will be arriving on the island in the next few days to be presented again as a member of the first blue and white team. Once on the island he will take press interviews.
