Interviews after the loss against Alcorcon.

David Amaral was positive when he talked about the commitment the players had on the field in spite of the loss suffered against Alcorcón this weekend. The CD Tenerife trainer talked about the specific mistakes which caused the group to lose in Santo Domingo.
Amaral started by explaining “it was hard. We tried to get everything and it isn't normal that games go that way. Specific errors deprived us of the points we so need”.
“The squad is demoralised. Today the lads gave everything. This was a hard blow but life goes on”. Added David Amaral, he continued “the team did everything they should but little mistakes made us lose. In football, when you least expect it things can turn around. If we break this run they this will lift their moral”.
Above all the act that made the 1-1, the island coach commented that “without hiding behind anything, more than the penalty what I want to complain about is the previous foul. I don't know if there was hand ball or not. But the penalty was called and there can be no objection”.
In his analysis of the game, David Amaral counted that, “ after the 1-2 they went all out . They forced us back and their shots at goal arrived after that when we made mistakes”.
When asked about the changing rooms after the loss this weekend, the coach from Arico signalled that “This was a hard blow as twice we were a goal up. Our rival achieved things when they were desperate. We could have finished the game and we didn't”.
Amaral recognised that the team was more solid against Alcorcón than against Huesca, something that “at home we are under more pressure but away we are more free. Against Alcorcón today we went out of the attack. The games were laid out differently. The run has to be stopped so we can start to work. There is nothing else but to pick up little by little, helping each other. The suffering and exhaustion in the group is high. We need to try to compete in a dignified manner”.
David Amaral doesn't want the team to throw in the towel: “We need to fight because we are professionals, because there are options and there may even be an administrative loophole”.
“We can't hope to win a number of games when we haven't yet won a game. Although mentally we are bad the only thing that counts is win so we can help” he concluded.
There are no excuses, the CD Tenerife players feel deceived after the loss on Sunday in Santo Domingo against Alcorcón.

Luna: “The things didn't go. We gave everything and could have won. We tried our hardest to stop their goals. Alcorcón at home is a great team, and today they demonstrated it as they have all season. We are very sad for how things are going. There are no words”.
Melli: “The team tried hard. We were up twice and we had the game under control. In spite of this work we lost the game. I didn't see the penalty that led to the 1-1. We have been the hole year making the same mistakes. A win here would have given us so much confidence. I think the game was planned well and we played it out. Now we need to move on to the next game. We will go on trying”.
Nino: “We are really bad but we need to go on. The games that are still to come need to be played with hard work and commitment. I am cross and when I am cross explanations are internal not external. I think that we are missing things, that some things aren't clear. The options that are left are complicated with only 8 games left. There is nothing more to do but think about the game against Villarreal”.
Antonio Hidalgo: “Football is punishing us. We played the first half well and we were dominating the game for most of the time. Twice we went ahead but all that work wasn't enough to give us a win. We need to keep believing that we can do this until there are no more chances”.

We know that everyone of us need to give everything. Next Sunday there needs to be a Tenerife that gives everything on the field right to the end to get those three points”.

Kitoko & Melli attended the press this Thursday, commenting on the different points of news about CD Tenerife.
The Congolese player, firstly recognised that Sunday “We cant go out for any result that isn't a win. We know that it will be difficult to achieve. The team is decided and thinks that they are going all out for a win”.
In reference to the arrival of David Amaral on the CD Tenerife bench, Kitoko pointed out that, “The new coach arrived with new ideas. We have to be a block during the 90 minutes and compete at our maximum to the end”.
Lastly the blue and white ‘21’ talked about the next rival, “I have played against Alcorcón last season and I know that especially at home they are a difficult team, that fight hard, but if we do things well we can move this up a notch”.
Melli, himself, stated that, “the mister wants that we are only concentrated on Alcorcon, and in the changing room we only talk about this Sunday. We want to win so we can cut the disadvantage of points we have”.
When asked about the absence of Marc Bertrán and his possible return to the first eleven, The Andalucian player commented that, “Aitor Núñez could also play in this position. For my part I am hoping that I get a new chance to play. I am experienced in this position and I will try to help the team all I can”.
Finishing, Melli stated that “We know that everyone of us need to give everything. Next Sunday there needs to be a Tenerife that gives everything on the field right to the end to get those three points”.

Marc and Melli want to prove on the field that the team is ready

The captain for CD Tenerife, Marc Bertrán, was interviewed on Wednesday in the press room in the Heliodoro, where he admitted at the start “we are really fed up because in the last few games we have lost but if we win against Nástic, we will have more chance. Our only intention is to go to Tarragona for the three points”.
As he continued the player from Llerida stated, “We need to only think about this Saturday. We have had a bad run but if we beat Nastic we will be back with a chance. We need to be positive. We need to do things right and win this game. We now the objective is difficult but not impossible. We are going to try everything we can to achieve this. We need to move game by game with the next game being the most important”, he added.
“The team appaers convinced” continued Bertran, “with confidence and belief we can do this. This is the only message we can send. We need to go all out for everything in Tarragona. There are more than three points in play. It will be a hard game and we are confident in the game. This is our chance”.
To conclude the blue and white captain stated that “from now on we nee to talk on the field. There are no alternatives. We can fall sunk or if we go on up”.
His companion Melli was also there to be interviewed, he recognised that there are “a lot of need to get back to the team. This is a final and we need to do our best. I want to be as fit as possible for this weekend”.
The Central from Andalusia, also centred on the game in the Nou Estadi. You need to think, above all for this Saturday. Nastic is a direct rival and to win the three points will put us back in the fight”.
The blue and white ‘18’ also pointed out that, “we need to move this forward. The implication is there for us all. We need to go out hard and all the way. The season is really hard but we still have a chance to save the team , There are some direct games and we need to move them forward”.

Somethings aren't meant to be and although CD Tenerife went ahead with an early goal from Nino Cordoba equalized in the 31st minute. Melli was sent off for a foul on the last man in the 50th minute. The team from Andalusia then scored again and although CDT tried to the end they were unsuccessful.

Wednesday interview with Melli and Dubarbier

Sebastián Dubarbier & Melli were the two players who met the media on Wednesday in the press room in the El Mundialito grounds.





The mid fielder commented that “we have two consecutive wins and we need to continue this way to move as fast as we can out to the bottom of the table. I see a squad with a need to do well and improve and the desire to win more games”.
Continuing along this theme the blue and white “22”s stated, “We have an idea about how we want to play. We are trying the best we can but there is still room for improvement so the games can continue the way we want to”.
Dubarbier also pointed out the level of the squad, “ We have a great team fit to fight and win three points against any opponent. Now we need to play again as visitors and go all out for a win. Then we can see how the game turns out. The objective is save the team, we want to be in a safer position in the table,” he added.
To finish the Argentine footballer talked about his time here in Tenerife and the team, “I really like the island. I know we have to do things well and wait and see what we can achieve. If only I can stay here in the club. The group is outstanding and everyone has helped me. I know I still need to do more but I have adapted well”.
Melli, in the mean time, started by commenting the path the team has followed over the last few games. “we went to Salamanca with the idea to improve and that we did. The following weekend we were capable of beating the leader and now again we need to fight for the three points. The coach insists that we have to continue improving, but you can see we are doing things well and that is more positive”, he added.
To conclude the defender from Andalusia said, “every player in the squad is important. There are competent people and if I get the chance to play I will do the best possible job. I am calm, I know that I can play in various positions and help the team”, he finished.
The first team trained this morning, Wednesday, in a session that lasted two hours. The practise included warm-up, work with the ball including circulation, offensive and defensive moves and a series of games in reduced space
Ricardo León completed the first part of the the work with the group and then worked on his own with a trainer. Also present as often were Tenerife B players Dani Mederos y Josmar Zambrano.
CD Tenerife realise on Thursday their last training session for the week on the island at 10.00 in the El Mundialito grounds. After which trainer Antonio Tapia will give a press interview and the list of players due to travel to Balaídos for the game against RC Celta.

On Thursday there will be a meeting in the HRL Stadium between the president and the Fan clubs. This is part of the group of events given to celebrate the five year aniversary of the presiden Miguel Concepcion and his advisors.

Natalio and Melli talk about their hopes for the next game against Rayo.

Natalio Lorenzo talked to the media on Wednesday after training in the El Mundialito grounds. The blue and white forward commented that “when the team wins you notice the difference. The great taste the win in Salamanca left us with came just at the right time. The group played a great game and things went our way. I personally was able to help the group as best I could”.
The CD Tenerife player is pushing to “carry on working hard whoever gets to start in the first eleven. This is the best moment to play against the leader. This is an important test and if we win we will be really positive. I know it is difficult but with the help of the fans anything is possible. They way they support us us admirable”.
Natalio, continued analysing the next match and said that, “in any game in the second division either team can win. At home we need to be strong and not let points escape. We need to go out on the field motivated, with confidence to make it clear to Rayo that it is going to cost them dearly if they want to win here. With the help of our fans we can win”.

For Melli who was also interviewed on Wednesday the most important factor was consistency, “we have been six games without a loss and you can see the improvement”. The blue and white defender said he is available “to help the team and if the coach asks I can play as defensive midfielder. What ever happens I hope to play the best I can and help the team”.

The player also talked about the the next rival for Sunday's game: “They are a good team, but we are going to make things difficult for them. We are working well and lets see if we can manage to move out of the position as soon as possible. There is more competition for every position and between us all we can move forward”.

Players talk about the feeling the game was a loss not a draw.

The declarations from the players after the game against UD Las Palmas were about the deception they felt in having drawn. The 1-1 tasted like a loss and their players felt the scoreboard didn't show the way they had played.



Dubarbier: “It was a pity. But there is the whole second round to fix this. It was an up and down game, where a lot of it was near their goal. The goal they scored just before the end was a blow. Football is sometimes cruel. We need to change things. I have been a long time without playing, but I feel OK. The others told me the derby would be special. The atmosphere was great. I am a player who usually plays on the wing but if the coach wants me elsewhere I can do that. We need to be strong for home games”.
Melli: “This feels like a loss. It was an important game, that we needed to win and we let it go. In the second half we were the better team and this allowed us to relax. Then we were blown out of the water with their goal, with only five minutes to play there was no time to score another. Football can be like this and there is nothing you can do but was are all going home sad. We need to look to the next game and think only of the two home games that are coming up. The idea is to get closer to the teams that are out of relegation”.
Luna: “We are sad and fed up. You feel so out of control. I don't know what to say. I don't now what happened. We had the game under control and were playing well but in the last minute we lost it. We need to play harder for the whole 90 minutes. You can't think that everything is done as in any play the opposition can score a goal. Every player needs to take responsibility for his mistakes. We are all very fed up. The most to blame are the players who were on the field. Now we need to think about the next game. There are still many to play and I believe we will be OK”.

Julio Alvarez talks of hopes for the next game.

On Monday in the press room in the Mundialito training grounds for CD Tenerife Julio Álvarez remarked, “it is complicated, there is a way out. It hurts that things aren't going right and all we can do is work as hard as possible. We need to put 200% energy in this for the game against Ponferradina as there is nothing else”.
The midfielder for the blue and whites also stated that he felt “one more piece in a sports project and I try to add my grain of sand. I understand that the fans are unhappy, but I can only assure them that the changing room are united and there are no problems”.

“We have been united since the first day", he continued, "and things just haven't worked out how we expected. There was a confusion between the expectations and the level offered by the team. There is nothing more than hard work and try to improve”.

Julio Álvarez admitted that now “Is not the moment to have doubts we go away to a direct rival and we can't think more than there. It is certain against Albacete we had a chance, which if it had worked out would have changed the dynamics of the whole game. That play is what might have been but wasn't”.

For his part, also in the press room Melli said that “we are very fed up. We lost another chance and we need to move forward all of us between us. Our whole concentration is on the next three points. Against Albacete, the team tried everything and played with enthusiasm. Even with ten men we had chances to score and get ahead on the score board, but we didn't make the most of them”.

The CD Tenerife defender showed himself very happy with the support of the fans saying “we can't complain, in the most difficult times the fans have always been there for us. Between us all as we said we will move forward and move up. At a personal level, I know I need to work hard, we need to look forward and not backwards”.

The first team returned to training this morning, Wednesday after enjoying Tuesday off. The session took place in the Mundialito training grounds and lasted one hour and 45 minutes.
The session started with warm-up after which there was phyisical work outs with practise in possession and pressure. Then a game in the complete field with until the end of the session.
Marc Bertrán didn't work with his collegues and Josmar Zambrano completed the first half of the training and then did special exercises to complete is rucuperation. Who did take part in the session were Cristian, Juan Ramón, Jorge, Saúl y Dani Mederos from CD Tenerife B,.
The first team will train again on Thursday at 10.00 in the Heliodoro Rodríguez López stadiums.
Melli & Natalio were the players who attended the press in the communication room in the El Mundialito grounds.
The player from Andalucia, spoke first and reminded that “Our last game was a loss and we now need a win and the three points that go with this. Betis has shown up to now that they are the best team in the league although we expect to win”.
About the last loss, Melli confessed that “we have had some really bad days but there is nothing left but to forget what happend in Huelva and concentrate on Betis. We made mistakes and we could go on wallowing in pity. Instead we are going to do things better and compete at our best. Here we have played games at a good level and if we manage that we can achieve the results we need”.
In reference to the fact he is about to play against his old team, the ‘18’ stated that “for me it will be a special game against a rival who has scored lots of goals, who knows how to make the most of their chances and whose attacks can cause serious damage. But that can be done by any team in this category, they too can lose. We need to make the most of our good points and only concentrate on winning”.
Melli, again, sent a message to the blue and white fans. “The fans have always helped us, especially when times were difficult. We need your help and lets see if together we can achieve a win”.
Lastly the central defender from Cadiz commented on the squad “There is a lot of comitment here and we work with great aims. Little by little we are growing. We kneo that last weekend it was not a good show but with work we will move forward”.

Natalio, for his part, started by mentioning his punishment. “It seemed endless. I am really looking forward to being able to play again and trying to help the team. We need the three points”.
When asked about how he though CD Tenerife should play against the leader, the forward from Valencia remarked that “we have to leave behind the Huelva game as soon as possible. We need to compete at our best. We are really sorry for what happened against Huelva and now we have the top team and we can't let this win escape us”.
To conclude, Natalio admitted that “the situation is delicate and we need to give our all on the field. We need to play one hundred percent. In the end we need to be a competitive team who is concious of the situation it finds itself”, he finished.

Players comments after the loss against Recreativo de Huelva

Los jugadores del CD Tenerife lamentaron la derrota sufrida este domingo en Huelva ante el Recre. Analizando el choque, los futbolistas vieron en el gol recibido antes del descanso la principal explicación a la derrota. Ninguno puso excusas al varapalo sufrido en el Nuevo Colombino.

Juanlu Hens: “In the first half we played well and had lots of chances. The 1-0 they scored just before half time was a major blow. In the second part that goal caused us problems. We kept faith with our style of play but we werm't as accurate as in the first half. What is left is to work hard try to beat Betis at home and to to turn the page as soon as possible".

Melli: “This was a hard game, with little space on the field. In the first half we were in a goix position although we had few chances. In the second half everything changed and went wrong. We were missing a bit of everything. We knew our rival wouldn't let us play. It was a match in which we all played badly. Now we just need to move on and think about the next game. But I want to insist in the first half we played well. We need to. Ontinue working and change the image of the team".

Nino: “It cost us a lot to find our feet in this game though we had some chances. The opposition led us around tbe field where ever they wanted. Just when we were thinking about half time they scored and that weighs heavy. We had the sensation that we were the days we played against Villarreal and Alcorcón but finally that style just wasn't there. In general this was just a game we need to forget. Sadly it stopped our good run. That hurts. We are all capable of the best and the worst thats why against Betis we hope to score three points".

Juan Carlos Mandiá and Melli spoke after the last training session of the week.

Juan Carlos Mandía, CD Tenerife trainer, gave his considered opinion this morning, Friday, in the press conference before the team set off for the game against Villarreal B next Sunday, "We hope the team will be good defensively and offensively and play well”.
When asked about Villarreal B, the blue and white rival, he explained that "they are young lads who are now accustomed to compete at this level, they understand the level and have trained from young to reach this goal. It will be complicated to beat them but we need to concentrate on our game”.

The coach from Galicia, in the same form, commented on the statement made by the Villarreal trainer “We shouldn't be affected. They say we are good but if you allow yourself to be distracted it is easy for your opponent to beat you. I hope that they will say we made them uncomfortable, that we fought hard and were aggressive, that the competition was good and we also played well. Just that they say we are good doesn't count for me”.

When asked about who would be playing next Sunday Juan Carlos Mandía said “I am not sure, this is a situation ever trainer wants. In any case the way the players are right now whoever I choose will be great for the game. Added to that several of our players can play in various positions”.

When the objective on Sunday's game was bought up, the blue and white trainer was clear: Since I was trainer every game we went out to win. Our plan is to win at home and away. We want to achieve as much as possible and gain three points in every game”.

“I have the feeling that we are going all out to win and that pleases me. Most important is that we don't get side tracked and concentrate on playing well. The most important thing is to play well”.

Juan Carlos Mandía finished by stating, "the players have taken a lot of blows during this season, considering this, I am sure that once we reach the level we are looking for in the team, we will win many more games. Right now I want them to concentrate on making the games more intense, that we play good football. I want finally to thank the fans for all they do for us. In the situation the team finds itself you couldn't ask for more. The players are giving their all in every game and any sign of appreciation is greatly received”.



The CD Tenerife defender is sure that the team is going to win next Sunday. In the press room in the Heliodoro, Melli said he saw the team as “strong” with their eye on this important game and considered that "we are working hard and the most important thing would be if the team was to win”.

Melli admitted that one of the objectives was to “improve day by day”. The blue and white defender praised the attitude of the group in "their work" and admitted that "any moment now we are going to get everything right. We need to be strong, keep control of the ball and the mister has left it clear how we need to play”.

When asked about their rival, Melli said that “they are a great team, they have lost of young players and I am sure they are going to make things difficult for us. We are going win and after the last results, we need to go all out for more. We are conscious that a lot rides on this game and we hope that on Sunday we will see our first away win.”.

Interviews with the players after the loss against Rayo Vallecano

In interviews after the game yesterday several players made comments. They included the following:

Iriome González.- “If you know the second division then you can't say we were thrashed as a team can dominate for 80 minutes and still receive a gol. Rayo Vallecano were the team who had mastery of the ball for parts of the game but we had better control and it is a pity with only a few minutes to go before the end they scored a goall”

 

 

Juanlu Hens.- “Attack was hard but in defense we had most things under control. One of the things we have struggled with is  the still ball. In a single attack they managed to score their goal. I think the players tried hard and fought.  Rayo is a tough team at home and they didn't leave us much space. We need to stop this bad run and start thinking about the next home game. We want the first three points and to leave all this behind”.

 

Melli.- “This time the team was different, we managed to compete. The result is bad but today we were better in mid-field and now all we can do is start to think about the next game. If we play the way we did then few points will pass us by.  Our comitment is endless. If you look at their goal it was from a dead ball and with luck they managed to score. We had the game under control but were unlucky that we didn''t score”.

Melli is the new defender

Melli, the latest player for CD Tenerife arrived today in Compoamor to join Arconada's squad. He has signed for 3 years having been released by Real Betis yesterday










Melli is the new player in the CD Tenerife squad. The defender from Andalucia has signed for three season. Juan Alberto Andreu, Melli (6/6/1984, Barbate, Cádiz), has joined the blue and white group today in Campoamor. He was met by sports director, Santiago Llorente. He will pass the medicals and if every thing is right will then sign his contract.

The player comes from Real Betis. He has been a member of their squad since 2002 and was in the international youth squads. The defender talked to the press today and said he was pleased that the objective of the teams was to be at the top of the table and fight to go up to the first division. "I am now in a club where you can see how they competed the last two years. New players have arrived and we hope to be one of the teams who lead the way in the second division. Since I knew CD Tenerife was interested in me I was very clear I wanted to come. I am excited about the new season. This will be a new chance, but as I said from the moment I knew CD Tenerife were interested in me I was looking forward to being here" he finished.




Kome has renounced playing for the Cameroon national team. He says it is too much in the second division where there is no break and he would loose too many games with the club. Cameroon this week signed Javier Clemente this week. The Spanish trainer last trained Valladolid at the end of last season culminating in their going down from the first division to the second division.

The presentation game will be against Real Club Deportivo Mallorca on Friday the 20th of August at 9pm in the Heliodoro stadium. The team who were last years great surprise finished fifth and would have been eligible for the Europa league if financial difficulties hadn't stopped them taking part.
Ex-player who now play for Real Mallorca and might visit with the trainer Laudrup's team include Martí, Pau Cendrós & Ayoze Díaz.
