Pablo hopes to win the derby for the fans

Pablo Sicilia was the player interviewed today, Wednesday and he talked about the derby on Saturday. “We have nothing to play for except our own pride and that of the fans. We are going out to win to give our people some happiness and finish the year in the best possible manner. A derby is always a special game, always different”.
The footballer from Gran Canaria, also expressed his sorrow for the results of the season. “We would have liked to at least have maintained the category we were in. Things went wrong from the beginning and we dragged these results through the whole season. We need to look carefully at ourselves and learn from them”.
He then continued on the same theme. “We need to win this game as e can't win anything else for the fans. We need to win and finish with as much dignity as possible”.
Lastly when asked about the future, Sicilia stated that “not even I know where I will be next year. In the next few days I hope to talk to the new sports director and know what he plans. I have a contract with CD Tenerife and it is not up to me what happens it is up to the club”.
The second player to be interviewed was Sebastián Dubarbier, who is only here on loan, he talked about Saturday's game saying, “We need to compete well. We are going with the intention of playing a good game and in spite of the relegation we hope to win”.
The Argentine finished by talking about the time he has spent playing for CD Tenerife, “I started well, and was happy with how I was playing, but I was then injured for a while. I will only take home good memories from the island” he added.

Relegation always hurts - stated David Prieto

Sebastián Dubarbier & David Prieto were the two players from CD Tenerife who were interviewed by the press on Thursday. The Argentine and the player from Andalucia meet the press after the training session which took place in the Ciudad Deportiva Geneto-Los Baldíos.
Dubarbier is clear that “We need to play with enthusiasm as the situations is very hard for the fans, but the players need to concentrate on their work”.
The mid fielder showed himself pleased to have overcome his physical problems which have keep him form the field in the last few weeks, “I hope to play on Saturday, either from the bench or on the field. This injury has driven me mad. The problem with my ankle was strange but now I feel better. The pain is now bearable”.
“The new trainer is trying to help the team but creating order” he commented about the arrival of David Amaral to the technical squad.
David Prieto started by saying that “We need to improve, no one expected the team to be here at this stage in the league we need to find the three points this Saturday. We have things that need correcting”.
“In am trying to work all week to be in the eleven, but the coach is the one who decides”, he said about his options of returning to the team.
“The season has been complicated since the start. They are difficult days for everyone”, admitted Prieto, adding to this: “Whilst mathematically there are chances, we need to fight every points. We need to hold onto that, We need to finish the season in a dignified manor. Being relegated is something that hurts a lot”.

Friday's Interview With Antonio Tapia before the Important Game Against Elche

“We need to take risks, we will be brave” said, Antonio Tapia, CD Tenerife trainer in the press conference on Friday after the training session on Friday in the El Mundialito grounds. The trainer from Cordoba reminded that “The situation in the table is preoccupying and we are looking everywhere for solutions”.
The blue and white trainer admitted that “the solutions we need are footballing, we are looking for a balance where we give no advantages to our rivals. We have to be strong in defence as well as creating chances for scoring goals. Here there are lots of people who are having a bad time but no one is going to hide. I am convinced that the players are committed and Sunday I hope to get the right team to play”.
 
Antonio Tapia considered that one of the keys is “in making the goals we score count. But I insist, we can't commit bad errors that allow the opponents to take chances. We need to activate the players so they can make decisions and play well. It is something we have tried all the time and I am sure we can achieve this”.
 
The coach from Andalusia, also remarked that “I would prefer to always play at home as there we are carried by our fans Now we are going to visit a rival here in the second division who needs the points like us. We are looking for a victory we desperately need”.
 
When asked about the gesture form the fans who left sign on the training grounds on Friday, Tapia signalled: “I want thank the fans for all their support. Things like the signs give us extra strength and the club also thanks the fans for this gesture. We all hope to give them a good game and above all the three points”.
When asked about this Sunday's rivals, the referee for the island team said “Elche is a dynamic winner. Their game is very effective and they are playing with the thought of the play off positions. But we have be able to win three games out of four. We need that little bit of luck that we haven't had in the last few games, sometimes through our own errors. I have the same worries I had when I arrived but I know we can do things right”.
Lastly, Antonio Tapia wanted to relieve any stress there might have been with the players. “One of the things I wanted to comment on today was that Marc Bertrán went over to Sebastián Dubarbier as soon as training was over to apologise for his action yesterday”.

The game was the twenty eighth round of the Liga Adelante in he second Spanish division, played in the Heliodoro Rodríguez Lópezstadium in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, with the grass in good condition. Present in the stadium were 17.587 spectators on a cold wet afternoon. The first ball was taken by the new carnival queen in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Naomi Cabrera Pulido.

Wednesday interview with Melli and Dubarbier

Sebastián Dubarbier & Melli were the two players who met the media on Wednesday in the press room in the El Mundialito grounds.





The mid fielder commented that “we have two consecutive wins and we need to continue this way to move as fast as we can out to the bottom of the table. I see a squad with a need to do well and improve and the desire to win more games”.
Continuing along this theme the blue and white “22”s stated, “We have an idea about how we want to play. We are trying the best we can but there is still room for improvement so the games can continue the way we want to”.
Dubarbier also pointed out the level of the squad, “ We have a great team fit to fight and win three points against any opponent. Now we need to play again as visitors and go all out for a win. Then we can see how the game turns out. The objective is save the team, we want to be in a safer position in the table,” he added.
To finish the Argentine footballer talked about his time here in Tenerife and the team, “I really like the island. I know we have to do things well and wait and see what we can achieve. If only I can stay here in the club. The group is outstanding and everyone has helped me. I know I still need to do more but I have adapted well”.
Melli, in the mean time, started by commenting the path the team has followed over the last few games. “we went to Salamanca with the idea to improve and that we did. The following weekend we were capable of beating the leader and now again we need to fight for the three points. The coach insists that we have to continue improving, but you can see we are doing things well and that is more positive”, he added.
To conclude the defender from Andalusia said, “every player in the squad is important. There are competent people and if I get the chance to play I will do the best possible job. I am calm, I know that I can play in various positions and help the team”, he finished.
The first team trained this morning, Wednesday, in a session that lasted two hours. The practise included warm-up, work with the ball including circulation, offensive and defensive moves and a series of games in reduced space
Ricardo León completed the first part of the the work with the group and then worked on his own with a trainer. Also present as often were Tenerife B players Dani Mederos y Josmar Zambrano.
CD Tenerife realise on Thursday their last training session for the week on the island at 10.00 in the El Mundialito grounds. After which trainer Antonio Tapia will give a press interview and the list of players due to travel to Balaídos for the game against RC Celta.

On Thursday there will be a meeting in the HRL Stadium between the president and the Fan clubs. This is part of the group of events given to celebrate the five year aniversary of the presiden Miguel Concepcion and his advisors.

Sebastián Dubarbier hopes for a win.

Sebastián Dubarbier talked to the press during which he admitted that there might be a chance that he will start in tomorrow's game: “I don't know if I will be starting tomorrow, but I am excited that I might get that chance”, adding that he felt, “comfortable on the island and in the team both professionally and personally”.
When asked about the style of game being imposed by Antonio Tapia, the Argentine player signaled that “the coach wants us to play well, that the group is strong along all lines. If we are capable of doing what he wants, we will have good chances to move forward” he continued.
Dubarbier, also sees the future with optimism. “Since I arrived I can see a great squad, with the strength to go forward. Now we need to think about winning all the games we can both home and away”.
The blue and white “22” reasoned the recent draws saying, “In the last few games we played well to start with. Looking from outside it was impossible to lose. But the opposition scored goals almost without trying and then everything changes”.
He continued on this theme with the words, “It is then hard to turn things around. We had no luck, but if we work a little harder we can make it together. We need as a team to be more compact more together and the fans can help us too”.
Lastly, Sebastián Dubarbier talked about that CD Tenerife finds itself in the table. “From what I can see the points are very equal. With a good run you move up and a bad one sinks you. Against Salamanca you will see a hard fought game, between two teams who need to win” he finished.

Players talk about the feeling the game was a loss not a draw.

The declarations from the players after the game against UD Las Palmas were about the deception they felt in having drawn. The 1-1 tasted like a loss and their players felt the scoreboard didn't show the way they had played.



Dubarbier: “It was a pity. But there is the whole second round to fix this. It was an up and down game, where a lot of it was near their goal. The goal they scored just before the end was a blow. Football is sometimes cruel. We need to change things. I have been a long time without playing, but I feel OK. The others told me the derby would be special. The atmosphere was great. I am a player who usually plays on the wing but if the coach wants me elsewhere I can do that. We need to be strong for home games”.
Melli: “This feels like a loss. It was an important game, that we needed to win and we let it go. In the second half we were the better team and this allowed us to relax. Then we were blown out of the water with their goal, with only five minutes to play there was no time to score another. Football can be like this and there is nothing you can do but was are all going home sad. We need to look to the next game and think only of the two home games that are coming up. The idea is to get closer to the teams that are out of relegation”.
Luna: “We are sad and fed up. You feel so out of control. I don't know what to say. I don't now what happened. We had the game under control and were playing well but in the last minute we lost it. We need to play harder for the whole 90 minutes. You can't think that everything is done as in any play the opposition can score a goal. Every player needs to take responsibility for his mistakes. We are all very fed up. The most to blame are the players who were on the field. Now we need to think about the next game. There are still many to play and I believe we will be OK”.

I know it will be a fight, says Luna

Antonio Hidalgo is one of the most experienced players in CD Tenerife when it comes to regional derbies. He talks about his experiences here for the derby against UD Las Palmas. The Catalonian who’s first hand how this sort of game brings passion. The mid fielder talks about the classic game in today’s press conference.
Hidalgo started by explaining that “we have a real desire to play. The week has been great and special for us. No one derby that I have played in has left me with the sensations like the CD Tenerife-UD Las Palmas game. I want to experience these sensations as right now nothing else counts but to win. We have to give the fans something to be happy about. I know they have been there since the first minute and the players are need to remember this”.
“This will be a great match with a hard fight. We need to maintain our calm. There is a lot to do. We need to reverse our situation and take the pride we all have inside us and use it in the moment of necessity. It is an even match but we can't forget that it is in the Heliodoro, with our people”, he added.
Antonio Hidalgo remembered with special happiness “the derby in 2004 and the drive the win gave us to move up”.
Although he is immersed in the atmosphere that a classic game brings, Hidalgo hasn't forgotten the bad moment the team finds itself in. “It really distresses me the situation we find ourselves in. I really feel this and work every day to try to help the group. I know we can move forward”.
Ezequiel Luna was also interviewed today. The Argentine defender talked about the derby and in the first place talked about the two derbies he lived through in the 08/09 season. “It was really special. I had the chance to play in both games and we won them. Las Palmas didn't score. Hopefully this Sunday we can repeat that. This isn't any ordinary game. There is so much in play and everyone involved needs to make the consummate effort. .If I get the chance to play, I will play my heart out but always with my head on to think what is best. Every player has his good and bad points and I know we need to concentrate. We need to be 200 percent there, watching everything”.
When asked about the arrival of compatriot Dubarbier, the defender stated that “Sebastián comes to add to the team. He is very talented and wants to add his grain of sand to CD Tenerife. We have to all pull together and above all right now but this is a classic with great feeling. It helps to know the whole island, our fans is behind us”.
Luna was asked if the bad moment that the team is going through will affect the match this weekend, he answered “when you get on the field, you forget the table. We will have to fight and it will be hard but at the end this Sunday the best team will win”.

Sebastián Dubarbier, "I just want to help"

Sebastián Dubarbier was presented on Monday afternoon as a new player for CD Tenerife. The Argentine mid fielder was accompanied by the clubs sports director, Juanjo Lorenzo, who seemed very happy with events. Tuesday Duba as he is called will start to train with his new colleagues.

Dubarbier (Buenos Aires, 19/02/1986) arrives in Tenerife from FC Lorient, in the French first division. The player has ample experience in European clubs, including games in the Champions league. Amongst his titles are: two leagues, two cups and two super cups in the Rumanian league all won with CFR Cluj.

The midfielder arrives as a ceded player until the end of the season in CD Tenerife “continuity. I want to play as much as possible and help the team get out of relegation. I like the island already, the people have been very friendly and I am looking forward to playing”, he explained.

When asked about where he usually plays, Dubarbier said that “I am a left winger and can help defensively. Physically I am in good condition and I will just need to gain speed for games, but this will come over the next few weeks”.

When asked about the club, the mid fielder admitted that “I have seen several videos, the group plays well and are a quality team. It is an honour to come here and be able to help. Now I need to wait patiently, to win the coaches confidence and go back to playing the way I was before”.

Lastly, Dubarbier referred to the classic game that will be played on Sunday in the Heliodoro Rodríguez López: “This is very critical, the fans are very excited, the stadium will be full and I hope to play a few minutes. Right now we need to gain as many points as possible”.




The CD Tenerife sports director, Juanjo Lorenzo, presented Sebastián Dubarbier,in the press room in the Heliodoro Rodríguez López as our latest new player “this is the first player to join us in the winter market. He is here to help the team and it was in Rumania where he first started to understand European football. We are excited that he is here and hope everything goes well for him”, he explained.
Lorenzo defined Dubarbier as a footballer “who stands out for the intensity of his play. He is not a pure winger but moves up and down. He will add to the squad and give the coach other options put out on the field”.

The blue and white sports director didn't deny the possibility that other player might come in the winter break. What he actually said was “we can't say he will be the only one. The market has financial needs and football ones like ours. In other times coming to CD Tenerife, would be a great chance but right now players are looking at our record”.

Juanjo Lorenzo admitted that “the situation isn't easy and the team know what is in play. I hope that tings will improve. When you look at the team you can see the effort but there haven't been the results. We are going to recover the level and hope it will be sooner rather than later”.

As well the sports director wanted to thank the fans for the level of support they had given the team: “It seems to me their behaviour is exemplary. Against Albacete they were outstanding, very patient and the only thing we can do is ask that they carry on supporting us. I have lived a very similar situation in Pamplona. Finally the team saved itself and they did that thanks to the fans”.

When asked about more players, Lorenzo stated that “the winter market is very different to the summer. You need to decide exactly what you need, but in the situation we find is almost impossible to to find the sort of player that you need. We are open to any possibility. There are 14 days left in the winter market and I am sure there will be chances for players up to the last moment. We need to remain calm as we will not just take any player”.

Sebastián Dubarbier is now in Tenerife

Sebastián Dubarbier has arrived in Tenerife. The new CD Tenerife player arrived mid afternoon on Friday on a plane that arrived in Los Rodeos from Madrid.
The Argentine footballer will undergo his medical checks on Saturday in the Clinica Parque in Santa Cruz. The player who played recently for FC Lorient comes on loan for the next six months. He was excited to come to a new team and talked about the way he saw such a great club and how surprised he is that there are such temporary difficulties in the league.
Sebastián Dubarbier will be presented in a conference next week but not Monday Morning.

First interview with Sebastián Dubarbier

Sebastián Dubarbier is now thinking as a blue and white. He confirmed an agreement between CD Tenerife, the player and his club FC Lorient, the CDT club website was in touch with the Argentine player. Dubarbier is excited to join the club and hopes to help Tenerife manage to stay in the second division. “I know they are a big team who are passing through a bad moment this season and it will be a good challenge”, he assured.
At his 24th year, Sebastián Dubarbier now knows what it is like to play in the champions league. This was in the 08/09 season, when wearing the CFR Cluj colours he played in six games against Chelsea, Roma & Girondins. The next season he played in the Europa League and was often in the first eleven, playing in seven games and scoring one goal. From Rumanian football he made the jump to the French league. To Lorient, where he has played a total of 18 league games scoring one goal. To this total you need to add his presence in the Argentine opening tournament, the Copa Libertadores, the Copa Sudamericana, the French and Rumanian cup matches and the Rumanian Super cup. All those add up to 134 professional games and 14 goals.
The path of Dubarbier is exemplary as is his desire to join the blue and white team as soon as possible and help CD Tenerife achieve their aims. “I know that I have arrived at a great team who as passing through a hard time but this is a challenge”. Declared the player. “It is an important team and here have played many great Argentine players who have always played well” he continued. “The language and the local customs are things that will help me as there is less assimilation”, he added. Dubarbier is keen to wear the blue and white strip . “I want to help”, he emphasised, “and I will put everything into playing well to help the team move up the table”. Also he has clear that from the first day he will be prepared to play in any position the technical team asks him. He stated that although, “I have nearly always played on the wing I have played on the left and also on the right”.
The possibility of playing in Spain was also a big factor in his visit. “It is an important league and more so if you play in a team like Tenerife”. Dubarbier travels to the island conscious that he is ceded until the 30th of June, only the paperwork needs to be completed and this as ever takes a while. With his football being his presentation, Sebastián Dubarbier plans to make the most of his opportunities here and he took the time to comment for the fans, “I am going to do everything to help the club move out of the position it finds itself in”. “I hope that everything goes well”, he concluded.

Marc speaks of the hopes of the team & Mandia is interviewed before this important game.

Marc Bertrán, as one of the captains of CD Tenerife is a voice more than authorised to speak for the team. The Catalan defender spoke today Friday and from his point of view he talked of the points that preoccupy the blue and white team.

Bertrán started talking about the match this weekend: “I have a real desire to play. Right now we are in a really complicated situation and I want to help the team to win the three points. We need to think, only and exclusively about the game in Ponferradina. We want to do everything as well as we can. It will be a hard game and the rival will as needy as us. There will be a good fight for the game”.
When asked about the work Mandia was doing he replied “he asks us to give everything we have and to help each other. I am completely convinced that we will b saved”.
When asked about the signing of Sebastián Dubarbier, Marc Bertran noted that, “We will welcome him with open arms. He is coming to help and will be very welcome. The squad is small and we have clear plans as to our objective. The more of us there are to achieve this the better”.
On the other hand the CDT first squad trained for over an hour this morning in the El Mundialito training grounds. Starting at 10 am This is the penultimate session before they travel to the mainland Saturday to play in Ponferrada. With the group was Josmar Zambrano, from CD Tenerife B. David Prieto & Ricardo León worked on one side away from the rest of the group. Luna didn't train but only worked out in the gym.

The last training session will be tomorrow Saturday From 10am but with closed doors. Then will give the list of players and then there will be interviews before the team departs for the Iberian peninsula.








Juan Carlos Mandía was also interviewed on Friday in the press room of the El Mundialito grounds. The Galician trainer spoke about the game on Sunday in Ponferrada and he spoke about it in the general context of the situation the club finds itself. For the club's chief trainer there is no doubt that from his point of view the squad is completely committed.
“This is not an easy situation but I have no doubt that this team will work their guts out and they will achieve our aims. There is no objective in Ponferrada except winning. The ideal situation would be to win against Ponferradina and then think about the derby with all the differences that sort of game brings” started explaining Mandía.
“The players are committed and that is everything. This is how I see it in their weekly training. Something else is if we talk about how accurate they have been” he added.
Mandía doesn't expect the team to give up the style of play they have been playing since he arrived in Santa Cruz: “To play the ball is something that is indispensable. They need to have the ball and when you lose it they need to make maximum effort to recover it”.
The coach also stated that the game in El Toralín is all that counts right now and there was no need to think further: “The only thought we need to have right now are about beating Ponferradina. The situation is difficult. We need to win to boost our confidence. We need to be brave. We have a lot in play and are very conscious of that. We need to know what we want to do to win and then do just that”.

A bout the signing of Sebastián Dubarbier, Mandía commented “he is a player in whom we have seen a desire to help the team. We need him to give us hope. What I have said he has a lot of need to play and he plays good football”.
