Julio Alvarez hopes to fulfil his obligations.

“We want to finish the season in the most professional manner we can and fulfil our obligations”, commented Julio Álvarez. The blue and white mid fielder hopes to win against Real Valladolid, but “we are realistic and we know it is very complicated”.
The player added that “we are conscious that we have done things well and that finally football shows you that. We have played well the whole season and this is sad for everybody. We had many chances, in spite of the mistakes we made. This makes you more angry”.
 
Julio Álvarez considered that “we were missing many things to take us through a complicated situation. We are professionals and now we need to look forward, pick ourselves up and move on as we can”.
 
Lastly the player was asked about his future, his answer was clear: “we haven't talked but the club needs to make their ideas clear and us ours. I came here with the idea to play in the first league but things change”.

Juanlu Hens & Julio Álvarez were the two players who were interviewed this Tuesday in the Heliodoro press room. The CD Tenerife players talked to the journalists who were there about the importance of the game against Villarreal B. Although this is something we have heard all season it is still true.
Juanlu started talking about how sad the loss against Alcorcón last Sunday had left them saying: “The loss has complicated things even more, It was a blow to lose, although the team competed well. It is a pity, a trip up that caused us harm”.
“We know that everything is complicated and we need to win this Saturday. If we get the three points, then this will pressure our rivals. The objective is to think only about Villarreal B. they are a young team who are in a safe area of the table. We need to make them feel that we need the three points. Mathematically there are still chances and we need to make the most of them. We need to move forward”, he added.
The midfielder from Cordoba also said, “no one expected at this stage of the league to be where we are. This has been a really hard year and it's difficult for everyone. Now we shouldn't think about anything but the three points at the weekend”.
On the other hand, Julio Álvarez recognised that “Things are complicated, but we need to try harder. We need to compete the best we can and achieve the win against Villarreal B. In the club we are realistic and the whole thing is complicated. On Saturday we need to add the three points and not look any further”.
“The numbers don't lie and the reality is what it is. We will carry on fighting. This a a delicate moment, but we are looking for the triumph”.
“I came here to help the team, to be one more. That said I am going to help with everything I have and as much as I can”, he then commented that, “ the squad hurts. We know that we haven't done things very well. We have to be strong and not throw in the towel. We are all there ready to fight”.
When asked about the arrival of David Amaral to the training squad, Álvarez commented that “he is trying to help all the players. He knows the club well. Between all of us we need to face the day to day playing the best we can. We have been a few weeks together and everything is going well”.
This will be the first time that Villarreal B have visited the Heliodoro Rodriguez Lopez.

Interviews after the game against Elche and on the way home.

In the interviews after the game with 11 games left to play for the end of the competition the CD Tenerife squad has right now the Nastic game and winning there in their mind so they can cut the difference to get out of the relegation zone. “We are going to play the next game like it was the last”, assured Julio Álvarez. In the same terms Ricardo León commented: “We are talking about a really important moment”.

The undeserved loss against Elche (1-0) on Sunday needs to be left behind. The squad will concentrate, from now, all their effort on winning the next three games in play. Points that are vital for the aim to save the team. “right now we are in a bad state of mind” admitted Julio Alvarez, “and we need to play against Nastic like it was the last game on earth”. We need to concentrate on this game and think no further” the midfielder added.

His companion Ricardo León talked much the same way. “Nastic is a direct rival” he reminded, 2and we are talking about a vital game”. “We can't think about a loss but how we are going to win”, he emphasised. “The mentality has to be in how to win the three points”, he underlined.

Still, he couldn't not make a reference to the game against Elche in the Martínez Valero: “It is true that we received a goal in the start of the match, although we had chance to score”. He also noted that “The second half was completely ours” and finished saying that “This is where we are and we need to keep battling on”.

Ricardo & Julio Álvarez both preferred not to comment on the crossed words between them at the end of the last game. “I don't want to comment as in moments of stress things happen after games” said the local player.

“It was just a moment of tension between two players” he explained “and of course no one hit any one”. “If there have been statements as such then they were confused, very confused” he stated.

Julio Álvarez also commented, “It was a discussion like many other in the season” he described. “And if someone said we fought then that is blown out of contention”. “This damages everyone, above all the team when things are so uneasy right now”. He admitted that there was a discussion but, “it needed to stay within the players and nothing more”.

As well he said that ”We are hurt by the situation the team finds itself, It hurts to hear things about the team but more so when they are not true”.

We didn't start very well and make the most of our chances which we clear. The mistakes in the first half are not normal and hurt more so. The position we find ourselves in cause this. We deserved more”. This is how Antonio Tapia started his press conference on Sunday in the Martínez Valero, after the team lost against Elche CF. The chief coach had no excuses for the team and said, “In the first half Elche came out very strongly. Slowly we improved and in the second half we dominated and had chance but we didn't score”.

“After a loss and looking at the table everything looks black. There are still points in play. We need to work and look to win” said the trainer from Andalusia. He continued “in situations like this we need to take responsibility and I have no problem to do that”.

“we played like a team in the bottom half and were imprecise and nervous. Then as we felt surer we improved. We deserved to win”, he added. “I came to Tenerife to work hard and won't throw in the towel” was how he concluded.

Other players commented after the game:

Luna: “Again we lost and need to cry. We are cross after this game and the situation we are in right now. We don't need to talk, just show how we can play. This year football has been unfair with us. Things don't work out and even if we try they seem to go wrong. We cant get back even when the team plays hard. We need to think about the next game and how to win”.

Nino: “In Elche I played eight years of my career. Here we really suffered. Some of the mistakes were ours but sometimes the keeper played well. Our rival scored the first shot at goal. It is much the same as other games. If the game today was a final the one against Nastic is more so. We all want to sort this out for the team. We are here for the good times and the bad ones and we can't afford to give anything away”.

Sergio Aragoneses: “This the the same story. We need to react now. There is nothing but to win nearly all the games that are left. We need to be brave, but this could go wrong. We are part of the squad and we need to be united to solve this. It seems that we till we react things are the same. Every game left is a final. We have no place left for mistakes”.

I hope when the final whistle blows we are ahead.

Julio Álvarez was the player picked to talk to the media on Thursday in the Heliodoro Rodríguez López press room. Here e started talking about the game tomorrow, Friday against Xerez. “We will need to work hard to achieve a win. There are three important points and we need to fight as hard as we can”.
Following this theme he talked about the game”We need to concentrate in being the best, better than our rival. The objective is to get better with every game we play. We are competing well. We need to overcome Xerez and I hope that when the referee whistles the final blow we are ahead of our rival on the score board”.
To finish, Julio Álvarez looked at his personal journey in the blue and white team. “I am helping as much as I can had have done so since the first day. Sometimes things work out better than others. But I have always tried to add my grain of sand to the group for the teams benefit”.
The team trained for an hour and 15 mionutes today in the Heliodoro with the doors closed and present was also Josmar Zambrano from the B team. Tommorrow is the last session for the week at 11.00 again with closed doors before tomorrows nights game against Xerez.
After tomorrows session the coach will name the squad who will be present in the stadium.

Julio Alvarez hopes things are on the way up

“The group is more important than the individual. We can see this when we have the ball”, is how Julio Alvarez started his press conference referring to Sunday's game. “We are recovering our confidence but we need to read the games better. All the players are committed to this improvement and we hope this will show soon in results. We want to finish the season really well” the player continued. He was impressed by the reaction of the team on Sunday saying “The reaction against Girona was phenomenal, you saw that the team had spirit. That said after the 1-0 we should have gone all out playing the ball as we had been”.
In reference to himself recently the “20” saw that “I have certain characteristics as a player. Against Granada I felt much more comfortable and maybe in that position I will be more able to help the team”.
Álvarez, in the same theme, wanted to send a message to the fans, “I am grateful to the fans, I understand why they were unhappy. I know what I need to do to help the team and I am going to continue doing it. The supporters are ten out of ten in my book”.
Lastly the island player talked about the next game in the Helmántico. “I am only worried to see if we can manage the game for the 90 minutes. We are missing the assurance which allows you to win games. We know what we will find in Salamanca and I reiterate we need to know how to play this game”.
Ricardo León, for his part, started with the comment, “We need to look at the positive side. The team has made a change and all we need now is that step to positive results. We need to keep the ball in our possession. We know we are capable of taking the initiative in a game”.
About the next game the blue and white mid-fielder confirmed that “Salamanca will want to please their fans and we need to react and add points three by three. We will need to play well in the Helmántico to overcome our next rival”.
Lastly, Ricardo talked about the situation the team finds themselves, “If we had all been at this level since the beginning, we wouldn't be where we are now. I am trying to play my best every round and add as much as I can to the game, but sometimes things don't work out as one hopes. We need to function as a group and this way things will improve”, he finished.

Thoughts from the players and the coach after the game against the game against Granada

The CD Tenerife players are having difficulty coming to terms with the loss on Wednesday against Granada CF. Antonio Hidalgo, Julio Álvarez & Gregory Beranger were the players interviewed after the game, in their talk they gave their impressions of the game and the sorrow they felt for another game to have escaped them and the feeling that once more they lacked luck.

Antonio: “The team was playing at a great level. But as has happened before it escaped us. We can see the victory so close but it resists. I felt very comfortable on the field. I worked well with Julio. It was important that we win, we are adding points to our total but very slowly. The referee without really affecting the game allowed many fouls. This in our situation is not helpful. But on Sunday we have another vital game and we will fight hard for this. We have shown tonight we can play well and the really sad things is having scored two goals we let victory escape us”.
Julio: “I was more comfortable tonight on the field and I think that could be seen. I managed to participate much more. My style of football is with passes and to play the ball. A player always plays better if he is comfortable. And I felt better tonight where I was but that said I will play wherever the coach puts me. In the play where I scored I had a feeling this was my chance. I am really sad that we only managed a draw. Our play with the ball was much better. This time we had 70 good minutes and only 20 minutes not so good. If we continue at this level we will save the team”.
Beranger: “I played because of outside circumstances. But a player always need to be ready to play. Today we managed the most difficult thing which was to turn the result around. Before the game we knew they were dangerous with a stopped ball. In the pause we knew we needed a third goal but it didn't come and then they scored and drew. There are 21 games left and that is time to turn this around. We need to look at our own play although we are affected by the results. Form tomorrow we need to think differently”
Then coach Antonio Tapia talked:
“There are positive factors, in the first half we after they scored we managed to turn the game around. In the second half, with one player more we had chances but the ball didn't go in the net. The team played their guts out but they are still affected by nerves and this leads to mistakes. There were positive things and things they need to improve”.
This was how clear speaking Antonio Tapia started his interview after his first game in the Heliodoro where the team drew against Granada CF. The Andalucian trainer, offered his analysis of the game and the circumstances surrounding the squad.
One of the first questions was why he had changed Melli in the first half and if this was to keep the team on their toes. “As we had one more on the field the idea was to open up with Beranger on the field with a left footed player in his natural position. The substitution wasn't because Melli was doing anything wrong”, he explained.
Then more in depth, the coach explained, “in the second half we came up on the wings and had seven shots at goal. We were missing accuracy and luck”.
“Today we were missing presence in the area. We have no break movements. We were missing the tiles to build a positive result. Though there are positive factors, like the way the fans continue to support the team. We are going to try to enthuse the lads so they can win some points in the next game”, he added.
Tapia understands that the groups in capable of improvement adding that, “we are going to work on some things, deep balls and more presence in the area”.
The new trainer was asked about the feeling of panic the team gave off towards the end of the match, something the Andalucian explained easily: “That is a thought process, the players don't rest properly. This was they don't recover and then they don't play so well”.
Another of the subjects covered by the press was they played who hadn't played in recent games leading Tapia to comment “Julio & Antonio didn't play against Las Palmas. Today they came out and scored. In the next game we will give others a chance”.
When asked about the rival, Antonio Tapia signalled that “They are a great team with a winning run, with great style and good shots at gaol, today they scored a gaol with their first chance. This is strong confidence. The other day they won with 10 men at home. They are a winning group. We need to congratulate them”.
Tapia was also asked about the possible arrival of more players to which he responded “Right now we need to move forwards with the players who are here, that said the squad is small. We are missing bodies in specific positions. The second half of the league will be long”.

Julio Alvarez talks of hopes for the next game.

On Monday in the press room in the Mundialito training grounds for CD Tenerife Julio Álvarez remarked, “it is complicated, there is a way out. It hurts that things aren't going right and all we can do is work as hard as possible. We need to put 200% energy in this for the game against Ponferradina as there is nothing else”.
The midfielder for the blue and whites also stated that he felt “one more piece in a sports project and I try to add my grain of sand. I understand that the fans are unhappy, but I can only assure them that the changing room are united and there are no problems”.

“We have been united since the first day", he continued, "and things just haven't worked out how we expected. There was a confusion between the expectations and the level offered by the team. There is nothing more than hard work and try to improve”.

Julio Álvarez admitted that now “Is not the moment to have doubts we go away to a direct rival and we can't think more than there. It is certain against Albacete we had a chance, which if it had worked out would have changed the dynamics of the whole game. That play is what might have been but wasn't”.

For his part, also in the press room Melli said that “we are very fed up. We lost another chance and we need to move forward all of us between us. Our whole concentration is on the next three points. Against Albacete, the team tried everything and played with enthusiasm. Even with ten men we had chances to score and get ahead on the score board, but we didn't make the most of them”.

The CD Tenerife defender showed himself very happy with the support of the fans saying “we can't complain, in the most difficult times the fans have always been there for us. Between us all as we said we will move forward and move up. At a personal level, I know I need to work hard, we need to look forward and not backwards”.

Mandia and the players talk after the game against Valladolid

CD Tenerife trainer Juan Carlos Mandiá Lorenzo, started the interviews followed by several players. They talked about the game and the help the players needed from the fans in January.




“Before the game we needed 37 more points and now we need 36. If we gain the points three by three it will be easier but this draw is important”. This is how Juan Carlos Mandía started his press conference at the end of the game against Real Valladolid in Pucela.
Mandía insisted that he asking for the maximum effort from his players. He also wouldn't comment on things that might divide the team. “What counts is that we keep adding points. I am  respectful of everyone’s views, but it would be good to create a positive atmosphere. Where everyone works towards getting out of the position we are in. Lets try not to cause a breakup”.
The blue and white coach valued the positive reaction of the team to remount after both goals. “When a group is like this , it is hard. But we need to fight and that is what they did. The fact they came back twice is important. We need to make the most of this. If we can win on Sunday then this one point will count a lot more,” noted the trainer.
He refused to to give any explanation about specific points of the game. This he said was because, “If I don't make changes you ask why I didn't or that I did too late. I will not debate with you. There are things I do as trainer. I always try to make the best out of what I have to work with”.

The players interviewed stated the following:
Beranger: “We found our game. It was a good game. Every point the team adds is a positive. We just had two bad games and this 2-2 draw gives us confidence. At no time did we lose faith. We looked for goals and achieved them. Valladolid with very few chances managed two goals. This is how things work when you are at the bottom. Our aim is to gain the three points at home”.
Iriome: “I had accounts outstanding with Aitor. He told me I was going to score and I went to look for him to celebrate. It is a long time since I scored with this shirt. Julio Is also to blame for this goal. Valladolid had good chances. We didn’t have many. This point means we start the year adding points to our total. On the positive side we reacted when they scores. We need to look at the good things. If we win against Albacete then this point will count for more. We need to be strong with the help of the fans in the Heliodoro”.
Sicilia: “I am personally very happy and for the group too. We made a great effort and Iriome's goal was the compensation. We started the year well. This is a tough ground. And it was a complicated game today. We need to hold the positive. All the players are exhausted. I am convinced that we are improving and if we keep today’s attitude then we will move forward. I would like to ask the fans to help us in the game against Albacete if they help us we can find the three points. The thing that stays in my mind today is the effort the group made. That we never lost faith”.
Julio Álvarez: “We need to build on the positive factors from the game. Players who haven't been in the game added to the squad. The team worked the 90 minutes and we not brought down. I saw the team as intense and aggressive, without leaving spaces. As well we played with spirit and reacted. This is how to grow. We need to help so the club can be seen as great from the field up. I came out here to play for the team for three years. We have no doubts. We will be stronger the more games we play like this. There are always things that could be improved but the team did all they could. We ran our guts out and we have seen the prize”.

Hopes for today's game

Juan Carlos Mandía offered his standard press conference on Friday morning after training. He started by talking about the importance of the game against Real Betis. “It is a big game at a great moment where our players need to reach out for their best skills. Truly it is a fantastic game and I am not scared, in fact the opposite, we have chances to win this Saturday”.
The trainer from Lugo, equally, recognised that, ”I am confident in my players and clearly see we have options to win this game. We should keep our values and these will give us the chance to win more games.
Mandía also left quite clear that you need to turn over the page and leave the game against Huelva behind. “It is important to always be learning and to see the positive in games. We have come to conclusions about the game and are now full of energy, passion and dreams for this game. The most important thing is that this Saturday at 5pm, the players bring their best skills and qualities to the game, they have those skills and I look forward to seeing them”.
He continued on this theme. “I like to see the team always has the desire to get up and go on and they do it with all their heart. We need to concentrate on our game and give one hundred percent. I believe this will be a great game for the fans”.
“In 90 minutes, we will show we have options to win the three points”, continued Juan Carlos Mandía, who also added that, “We will go on holiday with a triumph against Betis this will give us all a smile this christmas”.
Lastly the, main CDT trainer left clear,  “I am enjoying every minute of training Tenerife. It is a great experience and I will fight to the end to be here as long as possible”, he finished.

Julio Álvarez was the player chosen to talk to the press on Friday in the press room in the Heliodoro Rodríguez López.
The Spanish- Venezuelan mid-fielder, to start assured that, “against Betis we can make no mistakes and we need to show what we can do as we were before the game against Recreativo. We hope to get the better of our rival over the 95 minutes of the game”.
When asked about the team who is leader of the Liga Adelante, Julio Álvarez stressed that "Betis is strong and has many good qualities. They tend to win their games with good ball play. They are intense and we will need to play our best and control the game as they suffer when they can't play”.
The blue and white ’20’ also, wanted to reaffirm the team objective for this game. “Football has given us another chance seven days later and in our position we can't afford to fail in two games in a row.”.
When asked about his fitness, Álvarez made clear that “I believe that there is no professional player who doesn't have some sort of pain every weekend. I know the best thing is continuity. I am here to help the team the best I can”.
Lastly, the CD Tenerife footballer asked the fans to forget the position the team were in. “It is important we are good tomorrow and not think about the classification. Partly we have to put this on one side and compete our best to beat a rival who has the capacity to win against any team in the category”, he finished.

Mandia concludes the team has worked hard enough to win.

Juan Carlos Mandía offered his regular Friday press conference, in which he talked about the physical problems being suffer by some of the players. “There are players with some problems and we can't take any risks. We will wait until the end to see which players are fit to play on Sunday”.
When asked about the youth player Jorge who has been called up to travel to Huelva with the team the trainer from Galicia stated that he is doing a good job in the second team and appears to be an interesting player. He is very young and has great chances to be a good player. We are close to the other teams and the players need to know this”.
When asked about Sundays match, Mandía confessed “we have twice the need to compete. If we play as well as we have trained in the last few days there will be chances to win the game. We had two very hard sessions, Sunday and Monday. The weeks work has been very good and the players are full of a need to win the next game”.
The trainer from Lugo analysed the type of game awaiting the players in Nuevo Colombino. “The rival is good, but we are good too. When I see my players it gives me the confidence to go all out for this game. It seems to me that this will be a good match, well disputed and both sides are going to go full out to win”.
In reference to the inability of Natalio y Ricardo to play, the head coach for CD Tenerife pointed out that “We only think about those player who can play. Of course it is an added difficulty when there are players who are being punished for accumulation of yellow cards or with physical difficulties but as I said from the work they have done this week I can see they really want to get ahead”.
Lastly, Juan Carlos Mandía spoke of the situation surrounding Julio Álvarez, a query for his physical difficulties. “Julio really want to help the team. The situation is how it is and between us all we need to move forwards,” he concluded.

Wednesday interview with Antonio Hidalgo & Julio Alvarez

Antonio Hidalgo & Julio Álvarez were in the press room this week in the El Mundialito grounds. Both were clear in the thought that the team needs to concentrate on the next game against Huesca.

“Things haven't worked out so far but we need to look forward”, said Antonio Hidalgo he then remembered that “On Sunday they took the three points easily. There is still time and possibility to fix everything. If each of us puts a little more effort then the team will show how much better they can be”.

The blue and white midfielder admitted that “We need to keep adding three points to recover the good feelings. The players are conscious of the situation and have nothing to hide. This is the reality”.

When asked about the next rival, Hidalgo stated that "Huesca has 4 points more than us. The field is small and they like direct football. We know they will be a difficult rival and we are going to try to cut the points difference". When he was asked about his situation he said that "I am not getting to play but everyone needs to keep training as hard as possible until a new opportunity arises”.

For his part, Julio Álvarez coincided when he discussed the last game: "We are really fed up after a loss that didn't make sense. We need to look forward, but no further than the game against Huesca. We are playing for three important points”.

The Venezuelan mid-fielder admitted that against Nastic "the 0-1 was hard and left us really damaged. This is a really hard time for the players but the group is sticking together. Neither excuses nor lamentations count here. We need to demonstrate what we can achieve with three points. If we do things right the final result will more than likely be positive”.
