Interviews after Monday night's game against Barcelona.

Kitoko, Juanlu Hens & Igor were the players who talked to the press after the game had finished against FC Barcelona B on Monday night. The blue and white players weren't negative about eh FCB second team but felt their punishment had been excessive in the Heliodoro.
Kitoko.- “The result was bad. They played well although we started out with a real desire to win. The first goal was a blow and after that they just seemed to continue. We want to forget this game and just think about the next one. We knew how well they are playing and after the scored we just couldn't get ourselves together”.

The Congolese mid fielder admitted that “ Our rival was very strong. We are in pain right now above all because of the result. Now we need to disconnect, then on Wednesday we will train and start with positive thoughts. We still have our heads high and can't afford to let go”.

Juanlu Hens.- “The result was a blow. Barcelona B made the most of their chances. They are a rival with a very clear style of play and they played well. We were uncomfortable on the pitch and once we were losing it was difficult to defend well. They caused us serious damage with counter attacks and know how to move the ball up the field. There are 14 games left and Saturday's is very important. We need to forget the table and look at each game”.

Igor.- “The result is too much and this hurts a lot. It is a game we want to forget, to learn form our mistakes and think about the next one. We need to give everything and this time we weren't capable of overcoming our rival. Losing at home is always bad and more so with 4 goals. Every player wants to play and I am no different. I am here to help and I am prepared for that. There are still a lot of points in play and we want to add them now”.

Antonio Tapia was then interviewed in the press room in the stadium. “Barcelona B made the most of their chances. They scored goals and that was something we were missing”. He believes that CD Tenerife had “their chances to score first, but they didn't. Our opponent made the most of our mistakes”.
The coach from Cordoba also admitted that “with the result against us, the sending off of Dubarbier was the final straw for the game. When you lose like this it is clear that we did something wrong starting with the trainer. I need to take responsibility. We went our with one plan , one intention but Barcelona B overcame us, above all when they were near our gaol. They defined the game no us. We need to move on and forget this loss, I only hope this won't affect how we play in Numancia. We need to thank the fans for their unconditional support”.

When asked about the next games, Antonio Tapia was clear: “We know that the situation isn't easy neither for us nor for the rest of the teams in this situation. We can't let go, we need to stay balanced and not let this loss affect us. We hope to recover and add the points we couldn't manage today”.

The Andalusian trainer continued by saying, “It isn't normal that we make so many mistakes in our game. It is normal though that the opponent make s the most of them. The skill Barcelona B has made it difficult for us to win this game. Now we need to think about things that we can improve”.

“We tried to play certain ways and in the first half we made several moves that were too soon and were inaccurately done. In spite of that the first shot at goal was ours and we had some good chances from the left wing. It is my responsibility and I want to thank the fans again for all their help”.

Wise words from Antonio Tapia.

“The team trained well and with enthusiasm for the next game on Monday. We are conscious that every game needs to count. With the help of the fans, I am convinced that we will do well for the game”.
This is how Antonio Tapia talked to the press on Saturday in the El Mundialito, 48 hours before the FC Barcelona B game in the Heliodoro. The CD Tenerife coach is confident the Monday will see the best version of the team.
The coach form Andalusia has the greatest respect for the Catalan team: “The rival is competing at the highest level in the second division. Their players are looking to move up to the first team which motivates them. No opponent will give you anything”.
But Tapia has very clear the weapons we have to stop one of the most promising teams in the league. “Just think about our game. In what is left of the competition we need to keep a calm mind, not give into euphoria when things go better nor in despair when things don't work out. We can't get obsessed with any particular part of the game and need to try to balance our play”.
Antonio Tapia has clear that “at home we have to move forward in those games. Although we know that the competition is very even. Then away we need as many points as we can”.
About the game on Monday the coach pointed out that, “we want to show that we can play well, with great style and be deserving of the victory. I believe that there will be goals. I hope to see an open game. We have a competitive group and will need to play with intensity, the same as our rival”.
Lastly, Tapia commented that he doesn't believe that Carnival will distract the players from their responsibilities: “This is a good group of professionals and we all know that there is much in play”.

Interviews with Dani Kome, Luna, Gregory Beranger & Marc Bertrán

Gregory Beranger & Marc Bertrán were interviewed on Thursday after the training session in the El Mundialito grounds.
The French defender firstly commented in the way CD Tenerife were playing in the last few games. “We need to look at the game against Cartageña and keep the positive things we managed in mind. You can see that the team is improving. We are strong at home in the Heliodoro ad we need to stay that way. The game against Barcelona B will be hard as they have been on a winning run, but we need to break that. If we play as we should then we will have chances for the three points. We need to think about our game and prepare the best we can, we still have several days to do this”.
Marc Bertrán, then talked. He started by saying about Mondays game that, “this will be an important game. We are once again in a difficult position in the table and we need to follow the style of play we have had in the last few games. We need to improve and keep growing”.
About Barcelona B, he commented that, “they have some great players, real quality players. We are expecting a complicated game and we will need to be mentally prepared to play well. We need to play our game not get caught up in the opponents style especially as we are at home”.
To finish Bertran talked about the magic in the Heliodoro. “It's true that we need the points and in our ground we need to give everything, once more to win. It is hard but if we are consistent we will get out of relegation. You can see that the team wants to compete”.
Ezequiel Luna & Dani Kome were the two players interviewed on Friday. The first indicated that , “we need to think about the next game. We know that the Barcelona B team is a difficult team. We are going to play our game and try to win three more points”.
“we need to keep working “, the Argentine player continued. We need to keep them under control and play hard all the time”, he added.
In spite of the loss against Cartagena, Luna was still optimistic. “We are still looking better, above all at home. We are strong in the Heliodoro. We have been improving and and need to continue this way. We need to think about our game and how to win. That’s what counts”.
The “19” in the blue and white team finished saying, “a defender always hopes that the gaol will be empty. Sometimes we have achieved this above all recently. We are still working on things and we need to look to win”.
Dani Kome, when he talked spoke of the difficulties in the up coming game. “To play against Barcelona B is always complicated but we need to be strong at home. Especially right now when we need the points so badly”.
The midfielder from Cameroon also hopes they way they played recently continues. “I think that we look different now. Not just when we play in the Heliodoro but also away. From the first minute we need to go all out”, he finished.

Julio Alvarez speaks of his hopes for the team.

Julio Álvarez, CD Tenerife footballer, was the player who met with the media before they returned to the island. The midfielder commented that, “if we can't win , the best thing is not to lose. The game against Cartageña was very even, it was a classic game in the second division and we played against a rival who is one of the best in the league. A single error decided the result”.
The blue and white player knew the key to the game was in “the first half. We had the game under control and any ball we robbed allowed us to take the ball with chances. I think if we had made the most of these chances then the game would have finished differently as Cartageña would have had to come to us and we would have been more secure with possession of the ball”.

Julio Álvarez believed that the group “need to maintain the way we were playing in the first half. We need to rob the ball further down the field as they took risks with the ball. If we had scored they would have had to open up but the ones who were troubled were us as they scored”.

The midfielder for the island team continued about the game in the Cartañova: “This rival was like Celta, a team who makes you run as they have possession. It doesn't look like that but whether you want to or not you end up exhausted”.

But the loss is now forgotten and they are just thinking about he Barcelona B league match: “I don't like to think about the rivals, We need to concentrate on ourselves, to do things well and know what we are looking for against the next team. If they get space then they will kill us. They need to feel uncomfortable in our home and not have things easy. They play with a lot of freedom and are a complicated rival. We need to play with our arms”.

Lastly, Julio Álvarez talked about his actions: “I am very comfortable, I am starting to feel better and play better in games. Every weekend I am better and what I most wanted to do is add things to make the team better. Personally I wast to improve to continue growing so I can help the squad”.

Player interviews after the Cartageña game.

Sad as they lost but convinced they are on the right way, the CD Tenerife players talked after the game yesterday in Cartageña. They all felt the most fair result would have been a draw.

Nino: “We have had chances to score. But for one reason or another it didn't go in. In the first half play the keeper found the ball. The team is getting better. I think we deserved more, above all from the way we played in the first half. The game was hard, as the next one will be against Barcelona B. Cartageña had very few chances after the break and in the first half we only had a chance with a still ball. The fairest would have been a draw”.

Antonio Hidalgo: “We lost the game in the details. The fairest would have been a draw. In the first half we were good and in the three points were lost in a moment. Our rival had good players like Toché, Víctor & Longás. We need to take these things into account. But we need to move forward. We need to think about the FC Barcelona B game. The losses don't make us doubt. The team is competing well”.
