Better played but only a draw

In one of the better games this season CD Tenerife only managed a draw. 0-0 was the starting and final result in a very balanced game.










CD Tenerife let Atlético de Madrid B (0-0) get away with a draw in a very balanced game. The blue and whites played a good first half and in the second half slightly let their guard down. In the first few minutes Víctor Bravo, Perona, Tacón & Chechu could have scored. The audience were awesome and with almost 9,000 people in the stadium it was the best audience in Segunda B and only two stadiums had better crowds in segunda. Las Plamas wasn't one of them. The first half was even and at the break the result was still 0-0. Calderón again chose to put Kitoko in central defence something we saw several games last year too. David Medina was therefore in midfield with Marcos. In the second half Atletico had more chances and Calderón made the fist changes offensively bringing on Kiko Ratón & Nico for Marcos & Chechu. In the last few minutes the opponents went all out for a win and Aragoneses (71’) saved the ball from a shot by Fer and shortly after, Pedro Martín (73’) put the ball over the bar. CD Tenerife kept on trying and Kiko Raton fought hard as the minutes passed. The score never changed and CD Tenerife has now played eight games at home without a loss, a position that it is a privilege to be in. There are only three games left of the fist round and next weekend the team are away to a side who are also fighting hard for a play off position.

As many of you know I like to get to as many away games as possible. This year as we are in a group with Madrid the season showed real promise as Ryan air are still travelling to the capital. August wasn't possible and September didn't have a game that was in the right place when I could get away but now things are looking up. This weekend we managed a quick break leaving Saturday afternoon late and returning Sunday afternoon. First away game of the season Real Madrid Castilla. This game has promise as two of their better players had red cards and a couple more will be away with the under 21's Spanish national team. Most of our players are fit with only Nico, Pablo and Ruben not completing a full training session. The squad train again tomorrow and then Coach Antonio Calderon has his press conference. The players train again Saturday morning before departing for Madrid in the afternoon.. They stay overnight in the centre of the city and will travel home Sunday afternoon. Players interviewed today were Richi Kitoko and Nico. Kitoko was first up after the training session in the Mundialito grounds. He seemed nervous about the game in Valdebas on Sunday. "It will be a complicated match against a direct rival. I hope I will be able to help the team", he started. When asked about the new tactics introduced by trainer Calderon he admitted that he was, " more comfortable next too the defence, the way he played against Montañeros. The other way I don't perform so well. Either way I do my best to help the tea.", he continued. Nico, a young player in the blue and white squad starting by explaining his injuries, "I have muscle strain and that’s why I am training separately. Friday and Saturday I will train with the group. We will then see if the coach takes me with him or not". The forward seemed optimistic about the teams progress and what he hopes the future will bring. "We are doing well. We are second in the table and winning regularly. Added to this the group is becoming cohesive. Ideally we will reach the end of the season in perfect condition. Not just as players but as a team. We are on the right path but need to do more", he finished. Volkswagen Canarias have renewed their sponsorship contract with CD Tenerife for another year. The presentation was held today in the Heliodoro Rodriguez stadium Present for the club was Ricardo Siverio, sports director, Pedro Cordero; trainer, Antonio Calderón; players Víctor Bravo & Kiko Ratón. For the two concession holder Cuatromoción & Hatusa, Was managing director of the first company, Marcelo Pérez; & Luisa Martín, as representative of the second.

I worked hard and managed to score a goal - Nico

Nico the author of the third goal was the player interviewed on Monday in the press room in the Mundialito grounds. The player stated that, “this was our first match in the Heliodoro and when it was my turn to play, I only had the thought to give everything. I worked hard and managed to score a goal and I am pleased with that. The people were outstanding. There were many fans in the stands and we are really pleased to see them there”.
The forward from Murcia hopes “to keep making the fans happy. The 2B division understands nothing about favourites. We won our first game and need to keep going. We will need to win many more to reach our objectives. The season is long and we need to keep out feet on the floor”.
 
Nico added that, “ We can't stop working ever. We must move from game to game. We are very conscious of the work we have been doing and there are no doubts. This can be seen with the confidence we played with on Sunday”.
 
Tarantino spoke second and recognised that the group, “feels better every day. Personally I feel I can give more, but we have just started and, started well. I am left with he game we played against Vecindario and I hope we can only improve”.
The blue and white footballer advised that, “you still can't make great judgements as we are still evolving and there needs to pass time until we are an established team”.

3-0 win against Vecindario

This was the game every fan wants to start the season. A 3-0 clear win, with goals from three different players. After the trials of last year this was a fresh start. The sun shone, the team had managed to organise an afternoon game and as the players came out onto the field there was a feeling that something special was going to happen.
In the first half Vecindario defended well, not letting Tenerife reach the goal. But after the break the black and green team seemed to relax and two goals in six minutes were the result. Victor Bravo was the first goal scorer with a pass from Perona. The ex Oviedo player then shot the second goal giving the team a bread advantage. The third goal came 30 minutes later with a pass by Ferran Tacon to Nico who has not long been substituted onto the field.. The players celebrated each goal together and seemed content as a group. Vecindario played well but they weren't at CD Tenerife's level.
Coach Calderon stated after the game that “although the game was hard the players controlled the ball”, he rated the game as good but more than that he commented he was pleased how the squad were with each other.
The players interviewed after the game were Victor Bravo and Abel. Victor was please the crown had enjoyed the game and hoped that he “scored more goals”. Abel who played fro the fist time in the Heliodoro said “This was a good result for a game that is like a derby”.
The team is training today Monday, and is off tomorrow. CD Tenerife are third in the table with La Roda and Lugo ahead of them on goal difference.

Interview with new player Francisco José Nicolás González, Nico

Francisco José Nicolás González, Nico, seems to be lucky every way he turns. No sooner has he taken his team up to the 2A of Spanish football with Guadalajara, than he has now signed for CD Tenerife. “I am really excited about this project” said the young footballer from Murcia.
Since last Sunday to, Francisco José Nicolás González, Nico, has only seen good thing happen. His week have been marvellous. He commented, “When Tenerife phones you to join them you don't look at the category they play in”.
The young versatile player repeated that, “Since I knew that there was interest for me in Tenerife I was very excited. I am very pleased to have joined the team”. Nico the latest member of the blue and white squad said, “It is a great plan they have and I am looking forward to fighting for the team”.
Nico didn't hide that “it has been very hard to get here, now I have a great chance and I hope I can make the most of it. If we play with humility we will do well”. Lastly he wanted to add, I am greatful to Guadalajara, as the experience was wonderful, it was a great season”.
