This was everybodies show although Ayoze was yet again able to show his great ability

A serious CD Tenerife showed no pity to a Ponferradina who could do nothing right in front of Golden boy Ayoze Pérez. At just 20 years Old he scored his First hat-trick. The afternoon was completed with goals from Aridane and Edgar

First away trip in 2014

Although not the first away trip this season last weekend saw us away for the first time this year. The chance came up for cheap flights to A Coruña and we jumped ad the chance.
Saturday saw us leaving and after a direct flight we drove to Lugo. A couple if drinks something to eat and the day was done.
Sunday came around and the chance to have a look around the city. Lunch was with some cousins who live nearby and it was nearly time for the game.
Although we weren't many away fans there are always some blue and white supporters where ever the team go in Spain.
The match started with an early goal from Aridane and the team threw all there effort into trying for a second. Unfortunately Lugo equalised but in the second half Ayoze scored two more for CDT. With another goal disallowed from Carlos Ruiz it was a great afternoon.
Slow trip home via Madrid but a great weekend away.

New year

Sunday was a great game. 2-0 win is always good to see but it was more than that. The club made an outstanding effort to see the fans in the stands. Although Ephifany isn't really important in the UK, in Spain it is a highlight in the year. This is the day the three kings bought presents and therefore the day presents ate exchanged throughout Spain. A difficult day then to have the fans in the stadium at 12am. Prices for the entrance tickets were slashed. Season ticket holders could bring their children free. The radio stations gave away entrance tickets with charitable giving. And the turn out showed, nearly 6,000 people turned up to see the team win. More than the two teams in Segunda that played at the same time.
As for the game, the players took to the field with enthusiasm. Suso who had a very tough week losing a family member went all out to score goals for his loved one, but the whole side looked stronger than that have for a while. Once again Cristo Martin played with enthusiasm, Chechu seemed to be everywhere at once and Moyano recovered ball after ball.
In defence it was great to see two youth players, Bruno and Jesus giving everything. Sergio didn't have much to do but as ever was there giving his all.
This win puts the team three points ahead of the rest and gives the team a gap especially as they play Marino at home next Sunday.

The game we have all been waiting for

I think for many fans although they didn't expect Segunda B to be a wlk in the park they did expect to win a few games without suffering. The first few games in the season seemed to reinforce this and then the rest of the season arrived.
I sat after the game yesterday quietly just appreciating how great the feeling was to have won without suffering without being worried until the last minute what might happen. I have to say it is a great moment for the team to have recovered and I think we will make the playoffs. Theoretically we need one more win to be sure that we are ok. Both would probably move us up the table with a small chance we were second.
Second is an advantage as it gives you in theory a less difficult team and the second leg at home. This second  is the factor which would really help us, although I am sure many will travel to see the games where ever we are drawn.
Yesterdays game itself was great for Perona who scored a hat trick with the third being a penalty. The second was a really great goal and all three can be seen below.

Three points in the last minute

In a game where the CDT doctor was sent off the field for walking to slowly everything happened. The team started out slowly against Toledo who they drew against in the away match. The first shot at goal came in the 30th minute from Perona who has never scored a goal on his birthday.

Toledo never looked likely to score and the only counter attack Tarantino stopped although it cost him a yellow card and a sending off. At this point with two local players Kiko Raton and Ruben Rosquete having been brought in the team made that extra push. And the goal when it finally came was glorious.

The second game this season Pablo Sicilia Roig has saved.  We are still third and now with 6 points between us and the fifth placed team

First time out with new coach was a winner

It is often said the first game with a new coach should be won. Although it was not like that last season the rule has been proved again for new coach Garcia Tebar.

CD Tenerife were in the Fuensanta grounds with new coach Garcia Tebas and new forward Lusmi Loro who has arrived last week to help the team.
Both sides had good chances in the first hold and the score could have gone either way. Chechu Flores had a shot at goal after 10 minutes and  pushed it over the long goal bar. After 21 minutes Kiko Raton came off injured and was replaced by Gran Canarian player Aridane. One and a half minutes later new player Loro centred the ball from the left wing to Aridande and the forward  headed the ball in the goal putting the blue and white team into the lead. After that the Conquense players fought back and Ruano, shot the ball at the post from the area and then eight minutes before the half time whistle Morillas and the wind shot at goal and Sergio pushed the ball over the goal leaving the team at 0-1 at half time.

Straight  after the players came back on the field the blue aand white players scored their second goal. A ball centred by Ferran Tacon was knocked in towards the far post by Chechu Flores. The island tam then tried to finish off the game but a clear penalty in the 57th minute was ignored by the referee and he then signaled a foul and second yellow card against Tarantino and he was then sent off. The team were now down to 10 men.
Six minutes later Conquense scored and bought the result to 1-2 with a goal by Vinuesa.

In the final minutes of the match the local team pushed hard to at least try to equalise and save themselves a point and they had several chances but the blue and whites pulled together and held the result adding three important points to bring home with them.

Its Tuesday but we are still winning at home

Whether the team played badly or not three points are all that really count. How many games in La Liga did we play well and lose. Leganes will surely not stay at the bottom of the table. They looked good and fought hard although they might just need help in defence as Perona's goal was due to a horrible mistake there.

Let me tell you why I like Monday

This could become adictive. I like the Monday morning we won feeling especially after a 3-0 win. The game yesterday could be divided into 2 parts. At no time did Montaneros look like they were going to score. They are a little team and yesterday it showed that we certainly are not a little team. The team came out of the field in the first half with a need to win that showed from Sergio all the way forward to Kiko Raton.

GOALS 1-0: (7’) Ferrán Tacón, from a pass by Cristóbal. 2-0: (21’) Kitoko, after he took the ball in midfield. 3-0: (88’) Ratón, with a header.

INCIDENTS Played in the Heliodoro Rodriguez Lopez stadium. The grass was in a reasonable state, although it could have been better. It was a hot sticky morning, with 9.241 spectators.

The game was much better than previous games, although it still leaves something to be desired as far as some of the fans are concerned. Again in the second half there was some whistling as the fans were not too happy with how the blue and whites were playing. Antonio Calderón had promised after the loss against Getafe B that the team would get better. One of the differences was that Kitoko played in midfield, making a new design with three other midfielders. (Perona on the right, Víctor Bravo in the middle and Ferrán Tacón on the left) with Richi behind them. Meanwhile Montañeros decided on a 4-4-1-1 play style with Rivera as single midfielder and a strong defense. This didn't help them when in minute 6 Cristobal played the ball into the goal area and Ferrán Tacón started the scoring with a kick into the goal. This goal allowed the blue and whites to be calm and hold possession whilst they played tha ball. They had various chances and the 2-0 arrived with a shot by Kitoko. The player retrieved the ball in mid-field and took it all the way up the pitch with no oposition up to the edge of the area where he shot at goal and the ball hit one of the defenders and shot into the gaol. From there the CD Tenerife team took more control of the game. Aragoneses, who in the first half nearly didn't see the ball saw a shot at goal by Rivera (66’). And for some time Tenerife had trouble to keep the ball in their care. Montaneros continually tried to fight back and take possession. After an hour the fans were a little stressed and Calderon reacted bringing on Nico & Rosquete, though the game didn't improve. The driving force in the team seemed to be Ferran Tacon. In spite of everything the game was very much under CD Tenerife control and continued quietly on. In the final minutes Kiko Raton managed to score the definitive 3-0 with a header from a corner.

3-0 win against Vecindario

This was the game every fan wants to start the season. A 3-0 clear win, with goals from three different players. After the trials of last year this was a fresh start. The sun shone, the team had managed to organise an afternoon game and as the players came out onto the field there was a feeling that something special was going to happen.
In the first half Vecindario defended well, not letting Tenerife reach the goal. But after the break the black and green team seemed to relax and two goals in six minutes were the result. Victor Bravo was the first goal scorer with a pass from Perona. The ex Oviedo player then shot the second goal giving the team a bread advantage. The third goal came 30 minutes later with a pass by Ferran Tacon to Nico who has not long been substituted onto the field.. The players celebrated each goal together and seemed content as a group. Vecindario played well but they weren't at CD Tenerife's level.
Coach Calderon stated after the game that “although the game was hard the players controlled the ball”, he rated the game as good but more than that he commented he was pleased how the squad were with each other.
The players interviewed after the game were Victor Bravo and Abel. Victor was please the crown had enjoyed the game and hoped that he “scored more goals”. Abel who played fro the fist time in the Heliodoro said “This was a good result for a game that is like a derby”.
The team is training today Monday, and is off tomorrow. CD Tenerife are third in the table with La Roda and Lugo ahead of them on goal difference.

Interviews after the game against UD Salamanca

With the calm nature he is becoming known for Antonio Tapia started his press conference on Saturday after the match against Salamanca by insisting that the team is on the right path.

“These are three important points. In that last two games we didn't manage a win but in each game we have done a good job and played good football. Winning the three points will give us much needed confidence. This is certainly the way we need to go”, the trainer started saying.
“We have been better in defence giving away fewer balls. We scored two gaols and had several more chances. This is how I want to see the team play. We need to remain calm especially after this win as it gives the players three much fought for points. Now we need to concentrate on the next game. At home we can't give away any more points”, he added.
When asked about Kitoko the coach replied “he trained very little with us but it would seem that he can balance the team in midfield but the sending off was a pity. The player today all did a good job”.
“The recent arrivals have had chances. In future games other players will have chances. We need to rotate the players. The main idea is to add points to our total through good play. The team, that fans and the club all deserve a positive week”, he added.
“In the second division and more so right now nobody will gift you anything. There is little difference between all the teams, we have been a long time at the bottom of the table and we are working hard to achieve our objectives which right now are to move out of the relegation area of the league”, he concluded.
Four players were also interviewed after the match against UD Salamanca-CD Tenerife, all were pleased that the team had finally won a game after more than two months without a victory. They all commented that this was the best the team had played this season.
Marc Bertrán: “This was a good game, we were more together. That said our opponents again managed to score from a still ball. This is something we need to work on. We are now five weeks without a loss. This gives us faith. We are moving towards salvation. The one negative thought is we lose Kitoko next weekend. Towards the end Salamanca made things difficult, especially as we had one less but we defended well. The idea is to play a good match against Rayo, the way we need to go is to receive fewer goals”.
Hidalgo: “This was an important victory, a hard fought one. We have again managed to take charge of the game. The team need to keep on working and this victory has helped. Our most important weapon was to control the midfield this is working better. We need to fill the Heliodoro for the next game. We all know there is a long way to go but Kitoko has given us a great push on the ground”.
Kitoko: “I am really pleased we won but being sent off was a blow. The three points were most important and the work done by the whole team. The first yellow card I can see but not the second one. But what really counts is the team were good. I played really well and I am happy about that and that we won. I feel really comfortable with my new colleges and have settled in well”.
Luis García: “Today we bit our teeth and got on with things. We did all the right things to win and we had a little luck. When we talked during the week someone said if we play well we will win and so it was. We practised strategic actions and these really worked out. We can't give up playing the ball, our squad is too good for that. In the play where the goal was disallowed I was pushed and there was a foul whistled. These are things that happen in football. Although our rival managed to get balls near the goal, I think we were better in defence”.

New Years Draw in Valladolid - Game notes.

A draw that tastes like a victory, Tenerife gained a point in Pucela. Mandía's lads managed to fight back to a draw twice against Real Valladolid. Nino managed the 1-1 and Iriome the 2-2. This second goal came right in the final minutes of the game.
With an electric start Valladolid scored the first time they reached the goal area (minute 8) Oscar managed to get the ball and score but their happiness didn't last long. In the tenth minute Nino put the ball in the net after a header by Prieto bounced off the post.
Just before 30 minutes played Julio Álvarez passed to Nino, who then put Justo Villar's reflexes to the test. But the Paraguay national keeper saved the ball. Minutes later Nauzet transformed a free kick just outside the goal area into 2-1.
This goal came from a foul by Prieto who then asked to be changed. The man from Andalusia felt dizzy after the blow in the head he received minutes before.
With the 2-1 on the score board, Valladolid stepped back and let CD Tenerife play. The blanquiazules had difficulty getting to the rival goal area. Minutes passed and the players started to unravel. A header from Melli ended up in the side of the net was the best play for the visitors And Jofre had a good chance to score the 3-1.
The second half started with a change in the CD Tenerife side. Iriome came on for Beranger, Juanlu moved over to the right side and Pablo the left side. The island players grew as the minutes passed. With Natalio on the wing and Julio Alvarez closer to Nino, chances were sure to come.
But when the visitors were at their best Valladolid made some dangerous plays. First Melli and then Sergio Aragoneses saved two certain goals. The game moved up and down the field. Then Óscar had a great chance to sentence the game.
As the game drew to a close it seemed that CD Tenerife struggled for air. Kome came on for Ricardo, which meant that Julio Álvarez passed to mid field and Natalio went back in the front which seemed to leave the Tenerifians with no ideas.
When everything seemed to indicate that a loss was on the cards, Iriome caught the ball in the air for a splendid header which finished in the back of the net. And that is how the game finished.

First win away in Villa real

The team managed a convincing victory in Villa Real against Villarreal B with goals by Nino and Natalio.

CD Tenerife showed their real form this Sunday against Villarreal B in the Mini Estadi (0-2), with goals from Nino & Natalio. The first victory away form home this season. The lads in blue and white have now seen three games without a loss and without receiving a goal. No one has scored against Aragoneses since the Tenerifians visited Cordoba, in October. With these three points, CD Tenerife finally stopped being last and moved up the table to the edge of leaving the relegation positions.
CD Tenerife started strongly and in the second minute, David Prieto shot at goal with a header. The same movement came from the opposition minutes later with a chance from Falqué which went out without much danger. In the following minutes, the opposing team had control of the ball but all the chances were for CD Tenerife. First Natalio shot from a distance and later Mikel Alonso kicked a ball high over the goal inside the area.
The game continued as the ball moved from one end to the other creating danger in both goals The best chance for Villarreal B was by Falqué with a shot inside the area which Marc Bertrán managed to block.
In the following moments control wasn't so clear and CDT managed distant shots by Mikel y Nino, that weren't very dangerous for keeper Mariño. But in minute 44 Nino took advantage of a bad kick by a Villarreal B defender and took the ball into the area and shot into the net.
The second half started in the same style and in minute 49 Marc centred from the right, Nino too control of the ball inside the area, shot and hit the post. After this Villarreal too possession but CDT had several counter attacks and one of these led to two chances one by Nino and one by Natalio but Mariño managed to repel both.
Villarreal B continued to dominate although their attacks were centred from the wings or distant shots at goal that contained no danger for Sergio. The one person who created danger was Mikel Alonso, who took advantage of a pass from Melli to try to slide the ball but it didn't work out.
A little later in minute 75, Nino had a chance, straight in the mouth of the goal but he couldn't manage a second try when the first was repelled. The game went to sleep until in minute 85 Marc Bertrán took the ball to a shot at goal but it wasn't hard enough. A minute later Natalio had the chance to finish the game but again it didn't reac the goal.
But in extra time came the moment for CD Tenerife to make everything clear with a centre from Nino which Natalio made the most of and score to bring the final result to 0-2 and the first away victory of the season.

First win of the season CDT 1 - Elche 0 Game notes

How to bring over how I feel. The first real win in 6 months. A goal at our end to add to our happiness. Often the goals come in the second half  and CD Tenerife by choice plays to the Popular end. For what ever reason yesterday that wasn't to be and this was lovely for the fans from the Herradura end. The players went wild and celebrated the goal. Careful playing followed for the last 10 minutes and a win was finally ours.

Game notes CDT 3- Getafe CF 2

I really dragged myself to Santa Cruz on Sunday. I had hoped to get there to see the team arrive but flu had struck and I managed to get there in time to meet the Armada Sur fans before the game. Boy was I glad I made it. This was a really nail biting game. We started out reasonably but with Getafe in control. They had their first shot at goal after 7 minutes which left the fans worried and proved rightly so when they scored after 10 minutes. CDT put their minds to the game and started to fight back. Coming up to the 30 minute mark Nino scored his first goal from a pass by Roman. The game went up and down the pitch and at half time the score was still 1-1.

At half time I said to my other half I could see this going either way but I hoped we would be ok. I am not superstitious and as the players came back on the pitch I could only hope we would play our best. The begining of the second half has often been our weakness this season but on Sunday this was where the players came out with fire in their bellies. Comments in the newspaper on Monday say that trainer Jose Luis Oltra gave the team a bollocking at half time that could be heard all over the changing room area. Mikel passed the ball into the area, then Roman did the same. It seemed any minute one of the teams could score and CD Tenerife managed just that. Marc Bertran played the ball to Nino and Nino put the ball away making the score 2-1. Getafe didn't take this lying down and off they went. Cortés, played the ball to the penalty box, where Casquero headed it into the goal. A draw was never going to be enough for Tenerife's plans for salvation and the team played with all they had for a third goal. A minute later after a defensive error Nino scored his first hat trick in Primera and put away another goal. The crowd went wild, not since the home game against Jerez last season have I seen that much enthusiasum. The last 15 minutes were nerve racking and then the referee gave five minutes extra time. All this time the blue and whites managed to hold on and maintain their lead.
This coming Sunday is in the Calderon against Atletico Madrid and hopefully they will be more concentrated on their Europa League games. As another win should finally put us out of relegation.
Point of interest - In the Spanish league national player Villa has 20 goals to his name. The next Spanish players with 13 goals are Nino and Llorente. Of Llorente's 13 goals 4 are from penalties.
