The day before the derby

Juan Carlos Mandía has named all 21 players in the first squad for the derby tomorrow Sunday: Luis García, Marc Bertrán, Aitor Núñez, Carlos Bellvís, Antonio Hidalgo, Pablo Sicilia, Nino, Ricardo, Omar, Sergio Aragoneses, Natalio, Gregory Beranger, Dani Kome, David Prieto, Juanlu Hens, Melli, Ezequiel Luna, Julio Álvarez, Sebastián Dubarbier, Mikel Alonso & Iriome.
The CD Tenerife trainer announced the squad this morning after the last training session for the week which too place in the Heliodoro and was with closed doors. The session too place from 10am and lasted one hour. The players will stay together in the Hotel Escuela opposite the stadium tonight from 9pm.

The CD Tenerife coach Juan Carlos Mandía, met the media on Friday in the last interview befor the derby this Sunday against Las Palmas. The man responsible for the blue and whites understands that the team need to make the fans happy and nothing is more than likely to make them content than a win in this classic game.
The Galician trainer started by explaining that “This has been a great week. We come to the game with a feeling that everything is going our way. What has most surprised me his how the people fell about the game. I think the perfect result, for the fans and the players will bring happiness. The supporters and players are making a tremendous effort for CD Tenerife and they deserve this prize”.
“It seems to me to be an extraordinarily, passionate game. Anything against the game I can't give a value. The club feels this game. It is emotional even for someone who isn't from here”, he added.
When asked about technical tactics which had been worked on for the weekend, Mandía said: “We want to have several options. It is clear we have alternatives. The players are very united and they need to take giant steps”.
“I believe that what is important is how we see the game. We need to continue to grow”, he finished.

Miguel Concepcion breakfasts with the press.

The president of CD Tenerife, Miguel Concepción, had breakfast with members of the local press and media. The meal took place in the Hotel NH Santa Cruz. This meal took place on the penultimate day before the derby and many of the themes discussed were about the game against UD Las Palmas on Sunday. The breakfast meeting lasted an hour. At the end of this, Miguel Concepción & Miguel Ángel Ramírez, president of UD Las Palmas met in the reception of the Hotel NH Santa Cruz, both taking the time to wish each other luck in the up coming game. Here are some of the topics covered.

INTRODUCTION.- “On Sunday we will have a great experience. The Derby is a game we all await with hope. I wish that this will be the game where the fans will finally be compensated for all their faith. For this we need the squad to respond to the needs of the club. I am sure they will make the effort and show their potential. I believe this will be the game where we move up. In my five years as president we have never lost a Derby. I have seen three draws and three wins. Now I want to see the forth win”.
DERBY.- “These are special games, the ones where you live the competition. I don't think this will be a miserable game. I see it will be a more exciting game than usual. Here we are after a bad start and Las Palmas who started better aren't doing well right now. We hope this will be the game where we wake up” and “This is a game that will leave the loser hurt”.
TICKETS.- “We have 22.000 seats in the Heliodoro and UD approx 30.000 in their grounds. They therefore have the chance to be more generous than us. That said for this derby they asked for 500 tickets and we gave them. Then Viajes Halcón asked for 400 more tickets and these were given. The away fans are seated in the area on San Sebastián, where it meets Herradura. There will as always I am sure be other fans in the other stands, people who have organised their own trip. We gave Las Palmas the tickets they asked for. I understood they were happy”. “I think the stadium will be full this weekend. Right now there are very few tickets left to sell”. “ We have made an effort for the fans with the three and four game packs. The reason there were queues at the stadium was they can only buy 4 tickets each but that is the law”.
RAMÍREZ.- “I have read various declarations he has made about the ticket sales. He knows that our field has limited space. And in this sort of game security is very important. I also want to be assured that when we go to Gran Canaria that UD Las Palmas will fulfil their obligations”.
TELEVISION.- “This club signed a contract with Canal Satélite Digital. I know that the Canarian government have declared the derby is a general interest game, using a law which has now been disapproved. In this fight we are on the side of our client, who has special interest to show this game. If it is shown live that will damage their business. This wouldn't be good for future television rights sales. I also think that the game should be shown to all Canarians but then Television Canaria should negotiate with the holder of those rights2. “The way I see it today the game will not be shown on open television. Although I am not sure if a judicial sentence won't make some difference”.
PATHWAY.- “As any club president, I think we would like for a rival to give us an honour path into the last game, because this would mean we had won the league. Last summer that is what I said when someone asked me about the last game which we would play in Gran Canaria. I said it with no bad ideas although if I have offended some people I am sorry. I repeat I said it honestly. It was what I thought and I expressed that thought. I can now assure you there will be no honour path for my team”.
RESULTS.- “This will be a hard fought battle. The one who will win is the one with most chances. We will fight hard but it won't be easy. I wouldn't think of guessing the result. I know that UD will go all out for this match. But for my part, I am sure this is a game that will make the fans happy”.
NINO.- “I hope he will score on Sunday. He is our star player. I know that this year things aren't going the way he wanted them too”.
TEAM.- “I will ask the team to give the fans back all the love they have given us this year. I know that many of the fans have made sacrifices to be with us this year. And they deserve a victory. The support we have seen has no price, and can never be repaid”. “The players are all committed”.
RIVERO.- “I asked the Government president if he would be at the game this Sunday. I don't think you should miss the Canarian football party. But I can't finally say if he will be there or not”.

SIGNINGS.- “I spoke this morning to Sports director Juan José Lorenzo and we are hopeful to inform you in the next few hours of a signing of a midfielder. I hope for two or three more signings before the game against Girona”. “I understand that some players say no to CD Tenerife right now as we are last in the table. But our present classification in an accident. We are going up from there, our best reputation is that here the players get paid. It is also true that in the winter market players wait until the last minute to decide where they want to change too. We don't like this, we want to sign players as soon as possible. The negotiations are going well”. “We had no discussions with player Leo Borzani”. “If three new players arrive perhaps some player might go”. “The sports director is looking at players who might leave. All our players are important, but if some have no way to play or there is no space, then perhaps it would be better if they look for somewhere else to play”.
MANDÍA.- “I see him as very implicated and preoccupied. In football its clear that trainers need wins. I support him to the maximum but we need to see results”.
TEAM.- “Something went wrong. In August, we all thought that we had the second best squad at this level. Things didn't work out and we felt obliged to change the technical team. At this stage we feel the need to reinforce the squad”.
RELEGATION.- “It doesn't even pass through my thoughts. When I came to the club I was asked the same thing and I would preside over the club at any level. That said, my time is over after five years in the position. Right now is not a good time to change the administrative organisation. Right now how to help the team is the principal problem”.
FINANCE.- “We have done what we ought to have, the best we could. After five years here, I have achieved the things I set out to. Although perhaps there were other who could have done it better. For this reason I don't feel I should stay longer in the presidency. Perhaps it is time for someone else. But nether the less it is not easy to manage a club like CD Tenerife. You need to look at the suppliers and not leave the sports area alone unsupervised so results are achieved. I think there are many here who could take the club. I would like to finish but CD Tenerife will always have my support”.
BERTRÁN.- “The negotiations are in his representatives hands. We were told it was not the best time to discuss. This is what Santiago Llorente was told before he left the club. I don't know if in the future a time will come when we an all negotiate. I don't know if the layer has signed anywhere else. The player says no and I take his word, although if he decides to leave we would respect that”.
HELP.- Both Tenerife and Las Palmas are sponsored by the Canarian government. We are not negotiating any further aid. What is more it is not the moment for that”.

Before the last away game in the first half

CD Tenerife plays this Sunday the last away game of the first half of the league against Ponferrada. There are three home games to be played before the cycle is completed. The group under Juan Carlos Mandía journey to León today Saturday and they are prepared for everything. The finished their weekly training today Saturday with an hour and a half session the the HRL with closed doors.
After the session Mandía offered the list of 18 player who will travel to Ponferrada: Luis García, Marc Bertrán, Carlos Bellvís, Antonio Hidalgo, Pablo Sicilia, Nino, Ricardo, Omar, Sergio Aragoneses, Natalio, Dani Kome, David Prieto, Juanlu Hens, Melli, Julio Álvarez, Mikel Alonso, Iriome &Josmar Zambrano.
Players Beranger & Aitor Núñez, we left out for technical decisions. Josmar Zambrano occupies the position left vacant by defender Ezequiel Luna.

This Saturday in the press room of the Heliodoro the two players who were interviewed were Sergio Aragoneses & Mikel Alonso. Two of the most experienced players in CD Tenerife. Both the Galician and the Basque player were agreed in the importance of the game on Sunday in Ponferrada.
“There is no option but to gain points three by three. We are going to Ponferrada and our only thought is to win. What has happened up to now has to be left behind. We need to think positively”, started the keeper.
“There is dedication and we are prepared to sacrifice but perhaps we are missing other things. We have tried everything in every game but for what ever reason we haven’t managed many victories. The team need to work as a group. We all need to defend and all need to attack”, he added as he was asked what had led the CD Tenerife to the situation they find themselves.
“We hope that in the next few weeks that we will be a turning point in CD Tenerife for this season”, he commented, sending a message to the fans. When asked about the arrival of Sebastián Dubarbier, the first winter signing, Aragoneses stated that “new people bring air fresh air and this is positive”.

For his self, Mikel Alonso started by stating that this Sunday, “is important. Right now we need the points. As well we play a direct rival. It is an urgent game and because of this the result is consuming. We can't continue at the the bottom of the table sunk there”.
When questioned about the bad position in the the classification table and whether the team preferred to play at home in the Heliodoro or away, the midfielder noted that, “Right now it is all the same at home or away because all the points added to the total count the same. Every point is gold. This is what we have been saying the whole league, but week by week our necessity is greater. A victory would be very important. But if I had to choose where to play it would always be in our stadium.”.
Alonso thanked the fans for the warm support the players had received in spite of the situation they team found themselves in the last few months, “The fans have always been at the teams side. Looking at where we are the stadium has been very busy. It is normal that there have been criticisms”.
About Ponferradina he said that “they haven't many points and are in a difficult position. They fight, their game is direct and at home they push hard. They have their own weapons. But if we know how to move the ball we will have our chances”.
“Tenerife is the most important. The rivals game is less important. The group needs to move the situation forward, look that things go right for us. I see the team well, there are no ugly faces, we want to work and are anxious that the weekend game will be here” he concluded.

14/01/2011

Marc speaks of the hopes of the team & Mandia is interviewed before this important game.

Marc Bertrán, as one of the captains of CD Tenerife is a voice more than authorised to speak for the team. The Catalan defender spoke today Friday and from his point of view he talked of the points that preoccupy the blue and white team.

Bertrán started talking about the match this weekend: “I have a real desire to play. Right now we are in a really complicated situation and I want to help the team to win the three points. We need to think, only and exclusively about the game in Ponferradina. We want to do everything as well as we can. It will be a hard game and the rival will as needy as us. There will be a good fight for the game”.
When asked about the work Mandia was doing he replied “he asks us to give everything we have and to help each other. I am completely convinced that we will b saved”.
When asked about the signing of Sebastián Dubarbier, Marc Bertran noted that, “We will welcome him with open arms. He is coming to help and will be very welcome. The squad is small and we have clear plans as to our objective. The more of us there are to achieve this the better”.
On the other hand the CDT first squad trained for over an hour this morning in the El Mundialito training grounds. Starting at 10 am This is the penultimate session before they travel to the mainland Saturday to play in Ponferrada. With the group was Josmar Zambrano, from CD Tenerife B. David Prieto & Ricardo León worked on one side away from the rest of the group. Luna didn't train but only worked out in the gym.

The last training session will be tomorrow Saturday From 10am but with closed doors. Then will give the list of players and then there will be interviews before the team departs for the Iberian peninsula.

Juan Carlos Mandía was also interviewed on Friday in the press room of the El Mundialito grounds. The Galician trainer spoke about the game on Sunday in Ponferrada and he spoke about it in the general context of the situation the club finds itself. For the club's chief trainer there is no doubt that from his point of view the squad is completely committed.
“This is not an easy situation but I have no doubt that this team will work their guts out and they will achieve our aims. There is no objective in Ponferrada except winning. The ideal situation would be to win against Ponferradina and then think about the derby with all the differences that sort of game brings” started explaining Mandía.
“The players are committed and that is everything. This is how I see it in their weekly training. Something else is if we talk about how accurate they have been” he added.
Mandía doesn't expect the team to give up the style of play they have been playing since he arrived in Santa Cruz: “To play the ball is something that is indispensable. They need to have the ball and when you lose it they need to make maximum effort to recover it”.
The coach also stated that the game in El Toralín is all that counts right now and there was no need to think further: “The only thought we need to have right now are about beating Ponferradina. The situation is difficult. We need to win to boost our confidence. We need to be brave. We have a lot in play and are very conscious of that. We need to know what we want to do to win and then do just that”.
A bout the signing of Sebastián Dubarbier, Mandía commented “he is a player in whom we have seen a desire to help the team. We need him to give us hope. What I have said he has a lot of need to play and he plays good football”.

Interviews with the players and Mandia after the loss against Albacete

After the loss against Albacete it is hard to explain what happened. Pablo Sicilia, Daniel Kome y Omar Ramos were the three players whose turn it was to be interviewed in the Heliodoro after the game and to explain what happened. The players were all sad about the result and felt the expulsion of Luna left them all affected.
Sicilia: “The team started well, we dominated Albacete up to the play where Luna was sent off. This changed the game. Even then, CD Tenerife was still looking to score. We made an enormous effort and there was no joy for it. We need to try to make a change, although the situation is difficult. No one expected that his late in the season the team would be so bad. There is nothing left but to stick together and try harder. What ever I say now it won't make the fans any less cross”.

Kome: “The situation is complicated. We didn't count on losing this game. We started well but the expulsion of Luna left everything in the wrong direction. There is nothing but to keep working to make this better between us. The team was playing well even after the sending off. In the second half Albacete had no shots at goal. The fans are there and the team is there and between us we can improve. We are going to Ponferrada and need to try to win the game. From there we can win more games. I can't value other things, the management are there for that. The player need to be out there working hard. Today we deserved at least a point”.

Omar: “We started out controlling the game up to the sending off. With eleven we could have won this game. After the red card we tried everything but we had no luck in scoring a goal. The idea now is to try to get three points in the next game. This match was really important for us. There is lots of league left and we need to keep working hard to reach our goals. With one less we had the game under control. I can't comment on decisions that are the clubs to make. The most to blame are the players ourselves”.
“It is difficult to explain the result. With eleven player on the field we were in control and with ten too. When you are down everything that you do can cause more bad effects”. This is how Juan Carlos Mandía started his press conference on Sunday after the end of the match which C.D. Tenerife lost against Albacete Balompié.
The maximum responsible trainer for the blue and whites said “everyone had the feeling we would win the game. We need to be the team that you saw in the first minutes of the game. Who made the other side uncomfortable and unable to attack. If we make less mistakes it will cost us less. When we were 0-0 we had chances”.
For Mandía, “today we weren’t inferior to Albacete. If we hadn't received the goal we would have had more chances to win. The key point is to make less mistakes give our rivals very little space and not let in goals”.
That said, Mandía showed that he hoped the situation would change: “I believe that at any moment what we are doing will show results. But to get there we need to be consistent”.
“There are many games left and many points in play. Our time needs to come”, said the man from Galicia when asked about what options CD Tenerife had to escape relegation. Mandía also commented that he wasn't afraid of possibly being sacked that “the club employed me to train, not to value someone else's work”.
Juan Carlos Mandía again expressed his thanks to the fans for their fabulous support in spite of the results: ”the fans are going to push. The loyalty that the supporters have with the club you don't see very often. What we professionals need to do is work hard and not commit mistakes. The feelings of the fans can't be mistaken. They know we will do our best out there”.
For the Tenerife coach part of the reaction that the team are going to have comes form the reinforcement in the way of players who are expected to arrive in the next weeks. Mandia explained this in the following terms: “The club is looking for players. It is better that they arrive earlier than later. But that is a question for other departments though I know it is not easy”.
Juan Carlos Mandía concluded his interview with the statement “I am really fed up. I hurt for the club and the city. The only thing I can promise is that we will continue working”.

Players named for Sunday's game against Albacete

Juan Carlos Mandía today sent a clear message. The CD Tenerife trainer called for union and solidarity for the upcoming important game. The game in mind is tomorrows game in the Heliodoro Rodriguez Lopez against Albacete Balompié. The help of the fans makes a game like this live or die.
Mandía met with the press after Friday's training session in the Mundalito grounds. The man who is finally responsible for the players had clear the characteristics he is looking for to make the team competitive: “It is important that we received as few goals as possible. This needs to be our main objective. The squad also need to be conscious of the situation we are in. The need to play the very best they can and then I will show them how to play. We need to become much more united and that way we will make our opponents move uncomfortable. If we can lower the percentage of goals we receive, we will have more options”.
“Talking about individual cases just causes distractions. We are at a difficult moment and we need to stick together. CD Tenerife has found itself in a situation that is not good and they need the help of everyone. I would like that the fans help us move away from the bottom. That said, it is a lot to ask as they have always given so much. The team needs to keep doing the things they do well. There is no group in the world when in a situation like this who feel one hundred percent confident. We know which path we need to follow to recover our confidence. Above all we need to be consistent”, added the trainer from Galicia.
“I feel everyone needs to participate in the total defence of the team. I will try to help as much as I can”, he concluded.

The players who have been named for the game tomorrow are:Luis García, Marc Bertrán, Carlos Bellvís, Antonio Hidalgo, Pablo Sicilia, Nino, Ricardo, Omar, Sergio Aragoneses Natalio, Dani Kome, David Prieto, Juanlu Hens, Melli, Ezequiel Luna, Julio Álvarez, Mikel Alonso & Iriome. Mandia named them at the end of the training session this morning, Saturday. After over an hour of closed door training. Toledo y Josmar Zambrano from the B team were also at the session.

Most of the session was with closed doors and also present was Germán from the second team. At the end of the session the blanquiazul coach, Juan Carlos Mandía made known the list of players going to the mainland for the game on Sunday against Real Valladolid.
The trainer from Galicia named the following 18 players: Luis García, Aitor Núñez, Antonio Hidalgo, Pablo Sicilia, Nino, Ricardo, Omar, Natalio, Beranger, Sergio Aragoneses, Kome, David Prieto, Juanlu Hens, Melli, Ezequiel Luna, Julio Álvarez, Mikel Alonso & Iriome. It needs to be remembered that first captain, Marc Bertrán, can't play for accumulation of yellow cards. Carlos Bellvís, for technical reasons didn't figure in the list of chosen players.
The blue and white expedition set off this afternoon, at 16:40, from the Aeropuerto Los Rodeos to Madrid Barajas. After that they transferred to a coach for the journey to Valladolid. The return to Tenerife is fixed for Monday early afternoon and before that the players will train in the morning in the national training grounds in the Ciudad del Fútbol (Las Rozas).

Hopes for today's game

Juan Carlos Mandía offered his standard press conference on Friday morning after training. He started by talking about the importance of the game against Real Betis. “It is a big game at a great moment where our players need to reach out for their best skills. Truly it is a fantastic game and I am not scared, in fact the opposite, we have chances to win this Saturday”.
The trainer from Lugo, equally, recognised that, ”I am confident in my players and clearly see we have options to win this game. We should keep our values and these will give us the chance to win more games.
Mandía also left quite clear that you need to turn over the page and leave the game against Huelva behind. “It is important to always be learning and to see the positive in games. We have come to conclusions about the game and are now full of energy, passion and dreams for this game. The most important thing is that this Saturday at 5pm, the players bring their best skills and qualities to the game, they have those skills and I look forward to seeing them”.
He continued on this theme. “I like to see the team always has the desire to get up and go on and they do it with all their heart. We need to concentrate on our game and give one hundred percent. I believe this will be a great game for the fans”.
“In 90 minutes, we will show we have options to win the three points”, continued Juan Carlos Mandía, who also added that, “We will go on holiday with a triumph against Betis this will give us all a smile this christmas”.
Lastly the, main CDT trainer left clear,  “I am enjoying every minute of training Tenerife. It is a great experience and I will fight to the end to be here as long as possible”, he finished.

Julio Alvarez was the player who taked to the press on Friday. This is what he had to say.

Julio Álvarez was the player chosen to talk to the press on Friday in the press room in the Heliodoro Rodríguez López.
The Spanish- Venezuelan mid-fielder, to start assured that, “against Betis we can make no mistakes and we need to show what we can do as we were before the game against Recreativo. We hope to get the better of our rival over the 95 minutes of the game”.
When asked about the team who is leader of the Liga Adelante, Julio Álvarez stressed that "Betis is strong and has many good qualities. They tend to win their games with good ball play. They are intense and we will need to play our best and control the game as they suffer when they can't play”.
The blue and white ’20’ also, wanted to reaffirm the team objective for this game. “Football has given us another chance seven days later and in our position we can't afford to fail in two games in a row.”.
When asked about his fitness, Álvarez made clear that “I believe that there is no professional player who doesn't have some sort of pain every weekend. I know the best thing is continuity. I am here to help the team the best I can”.
Lastly, the CD Tenerife footballer asked the fans to forget the position the team were in. “It is important we are good tomorrow and not think about the classification. Partly we have to put this on one side and compete our best to beat a rival who has the capacity to win against any team in the category”, he finished.

Strange Sunday

The game due yesterday against Granada was finally postponed as the referees couldn't get to the island from Asturius in the north of Spain.

There is talk that it will be postponed until the 12th of January or even the 19th of January. It has to be played before the first round of matches have been played so it can't be postponed after the game against Las Palmas.

The players had a training session yesterday Sunday in the Heliodoro. From 10am they were there on the grass. After warm up they practiced exercises of possession and pressure. Then they worked out with the ball and finished with a game in part of the pitch.

They trained for one hour and 45 minutes under the orders of Mandía who wanted to keep them hard pressed in spite of the game they missed.

Nino y Natalio worked on the side of the group. Ricardo y Omar, trained with the group at the beginning and during the game did specialised a specific training. Bellvis managed to complete their session and Julio Álvarez participated in nearly all of the training. It is significant to note that Juan Ramón y Bruno two players from the B team took part in the session.

The first team will train again today Monday, at 10 am in, in the El Mundialito.

26/11/2010

Juan Carlos Mandiá and Melli spoke after the last training session of the week.

Juan Carlos Mandía, CD Tenerife trainer, gave his considered opinion this morning, Friday, in the press conference before the team set off for the game against Villarreal B next Sunday, "We hope the team will be good defensively and offensively and play well”.
When asked about Villarreal B, the blue and white rival, he explained that "they are young lads who are now accustomed to compete at this level, they understand the level and have trained from young to reach this goal. It will be complicated to beat them but we need to concentrate on our game”.

The coach from Galicia, in the same form, commented on the statement made by the Villarreal trainer “We shouldn't be affected. They say we are good but if you allow yourself to be distracted it is easy for your opponent to beat you. I hope that they will say we made them uncomfortable, that we fought hard and were aggressive, that the competition was good and we also played well. Just that they say we are good doesn't count for me”.

When asked about who would be playing next Sunday Juan Carlos Mandía said “I am not sure, this is a situation ever trainer wants. In any case the way the players are right now whoever I choose will be great for the game. Added to that several of our players can play in various positions”.

When the objective on Sunday's game was bought up, the blue and white trainer was clear: Since I was trainer every game we went out to win. Our plan is to win at home and away. We want to achieve as much as possible and gain three points in every game”.

“I have the feeling that we are going all out to win and that pleases me. Most important is that we don't get side tracked and concentrate on playing well. The most important thing is to play well”.

Juan Carlos Mandía finished by stating, "the players have taken a lot of blows during this season, considering this, I am sure that once we reach the level we are looking for in the team, we will win many more games. Right now I want them to concentrate on making the games more intense, that we play good football. I want finally to thank the fans for all they do for us. In the situation the team finds itself you couldn't ask for more. The players are giving their all in every game and any sign of appreciation is greatly received”.

The CD Tenerife defender is sure that the team is going to win next Sunday. In the press room in the Heliodoro, Melli said he saw the team as “strong” with their eye on this important game and considered that "we are working hard and the most important thing would be if the team was to win”.

Melli admitted that one of the objectives was to “improve day by day”. The blue and white defender praised the attitude of the group in "their work" and admitted that "any moment now we are going to get everything right. We need to be strong, keep control of the ball and the mister has left it clear how we need to play”.

When asked about their rival, Melli said that “they are a great team, they have lost of young players and I am sure they are going to make things difficult for us. We are going win and after the last results, we need to go all out for more. We are conscious that a lot rides on this game and we hope that on Sunday we will see our first away win.”.

Trainer interview

Juan Carlos Mandía continues to show in the press interviews that he has his ideas for the team very clear. The CD Tenerife trainer talked this Friday in the conference in the El Mundialito press room. He explained that in spite of the bad position in the league the team is completely omitted to playing well.

We knew this would be a difficult week but we are working extremely well. I hope this will show on Sunday in a good game”, he started telling the journalists.

When asked about this weeks rival he advised, “Alcorcón is on a winning streak. It will be difficult to beat them as any team in this category but I am very optimistic”.

Mandía used the conference to comment on his time here in Tenerifestating that “in the seven games I have been here, we haven't let a goal in twice. Thats not bad but we need to continue improving. To move up the table we need to to play well and be strong in defense. The players are doing everything they possibly can to turn back the tide . I am calm and confident that they can manage this. As we work I am happy with the attitude of the whole team and from here I want to inspire them to keep on working the way they are at present, so they can be the team that we all want”, he added.

Mandía has a clear work ethic that he feels CDT need to follow to escape the relegation positions. “We need to be ourselves. We want to be strong from free kicks, corners and be in control in defense. In general lines, play well”.
We still have a long way to go and we need to work hard but these changes do not come quickly”, he finished.

Mandia interview after the Huesca game

Juan Carlos Mandía, trainer for CD Tenerife, gave his opinion after the game last night, he felt that,“the game was played in high temsion and it felt like the end of the season not the begining. We all want to win the points as many as possible as quickly as possible. We fought hard and were the team with the most chances. Huesca was an organised team who played well with good players. They made things hard for us”.

The coach from Galicia lamented that the Canarian group didn't achieve the aim of a win but "but we had numerous chances to score especially as we were playing away from home". Mandia then added that his team, "need to keep working hard as they are still in a difficult position”.

Mandía explained that here in El Alcoraz he saw “good things and we will keep seeing them. This is the path to follow. The players want to win, they fought hard. For an away game they generated lots of chances”.

When asked about the result, if he saw it as good, the CDT coach explained that, "In one or two minutes we can't do what needs to be done in 90. We always wanted to win and that is our mentality. we put on fresh people at the end but I am not sure that was significant. Our idea is always to attack but you need to be aware of your rival”.

Aboput how he saw the team and how they played , Mandía commented "the only thing that counts is we added a point to our total. I have a good feeling about some things but we need to improve others. We need to strengthen the things we did well and keep them going longer next week”.

Finally, the blue and white trainer admitted that the team always "has the intention to go all out for three points. The reality is such and the table shows the need for it. We are in a difficult moment and we need to work to improve it. We are trying every game to win and if we can't win at least to draw”.
